Action fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Bob Odenkirk‘s Hutch Mansell ever since the sleeper hit Nobody surprised audiences in 2021. What began as a modest revenge thriller from the creator of the John Wick franchise has quickly turned into a cult favorite thanks to its gritty action and unforgettable performance from Odenkirk.

Known best for playing the unruly lawyer in Breaking Bad and then in Better Call Saul, he is set to return in Nobody 2 on Netflix. While the film was released in theaters last year in August 2025, it was released on Peacock in November last year (via NBC). While it will be leaving the platform soon, fans don’t need to worry as it will be made available on Netflix shortly.

Released in theaters last year, the film did not perform well. Made against a budget of $25 million (via Variety), it only managed to garner $43 million worldwide (as of March 13, 2026), failing to reach its break-even point (via Box Office Mojo).

In comparison, the first film was made against a modest budget of $16 million, but managed to secure $57 million worldwide as of March 13, 2026 (via Box Office Mojo), apart from becoming a streaming hit during the pandemic (via Giant Freakin Robot). Well, there is a possibility that its sequel might end up following the same lead once it premieres on Netflix.

What is Bob Odenkirk’s Nobody 2 About?

When Nobody premieres in 2021, expectations were fairly modest. The film, directed by Ilya Naishuller, followed a quiet suburban dad who turns out to have a violent past as a government assassin. Audiences liked the unexpected energy and having an older action hero, leading Universal Pictures to green-light a sequel.

Although the sequel might not have performed well at the box office, its premise sounds just as interesting. The sequel is set four years after the events of the first film, and this time, Hutch remains in over $30 million in debt to the Russian mob. The official logline of the film reads (via Movie Insider):

Four years after he inadvertently took on the Russian mob, Hutch remains $30 million in debt to the criminal organization and is working it off with an unending string of hits on international thugs. Much as he likes the slam-bang action of his “job,” Hutch and his wife Becca (International Emmy nominee Connie Nielsen) find themselves overworked and drifting apart. So, they decide to take their kids (Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath) on a short getaway to Wild Bill’s Majestic Midway and Waterpark, the one and only place where Hutch and his brother Harry (Grammy and Emmy nominee RZA) went on a vacation as kids.

While he is trying to pay off the loan with his unusual ways, things are not looking good for him on the personal front as well. He is drifting apart from his wife, Becca, as they try their best to ease their troubles and protect their family. In an effort to bridge the widening gap, they decide to take a family trip.

While it may sound like a cliché, this trip is a disaster of its own. Having taken their kids along to Wild Bill’s Majestic Midway and Waterpark, a place Hutch and his brother Harry would go as kids, the place turns out to be brewing with trouble.

This causes Hutch to take yet another job while jeopardizing the family vacation. While it shifts the tone of the franchise into a more adventure-style storyline, the film feels lighter and more playful.

For fans who love a bit of fun and drama along with John Wick-esque action, the sequel is perfect for you. Not only does it have the dry humor of the first film, but it also delivers the bone-crunching fight choreography.

Watch the Trailer for Nobody 2

The trailer for the film offers an exhilarating first look at Hutch Mansell’s attempt to balance his family’s mundane suburban existence with his lethal past. While the first film was a slow-burning discovery of Hutch’s buried identity, the sequel immediately leans into the friction of his two worlds colliding, as we see in the trailer.

Unlike the first film, this time we see Hutch struggling to prioritize his family, even suggesting a vacation to mend their bonds, only for his “vacation” life to be shattered within twenty-four hours. With the introduction of a formidable new antagonist played by Sharon Stone, the sequel expands the scope of Hutch’s underworld.

The action choreography remains as jaw-dropping as ever, but now includes a sense of frantic desperation as Hutch fights to protect his domestic peace. If you loved the grounded, visceral nature of the first film, this sequel looks to satisfy that craving while adding a fresh layer of chaotic, high-stakes family drama.
