Mike Colter’s Luke Cage finally got a mention in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, which got a reaction from Marvel fans on the internet. Some fans theorized that Cage is Iron Fist in the show and suggested that he is part of the Heroes for Hire team. Earlier this month, his return was teased after his and Jessica Jones’ daughter Danielle made an appearance in Season 2 Episode 6: “Requiem.”
Fans are loving Luke Cage easter egg in Daredevil: Born Again
In Season 2 Episode 7, “The Hateful Darkness,” of Daredevil: Born Again, fans finally get a mention of Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. Apart from this, it is also revealed why he is not teaming up with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones in New York.
The hint drops when Jones confronts Matthew Lillard’s character, Mr. Charles. However, as she threatens him, he states that he is the only person who can connect her to Cage. Jones asks Mr. Charles about his whereabouts, and he reveals, “He is overseas. He’s doing the Lord’s work.”
This has given rise to a theory that Luke Cage might be either working for Mr. Charles or Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Val), played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. This is because Mr. Charles works for the CIA’s head.
Commenting on Cage’s mention, a fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “LUKE CAGE MENTION!?!?!?!?!?!? WE F—— WON.”
Another user went on to state, “Confirmation that Luke Cage is working for Mr Charles to protect Jessica and Danielle. Good enough for me.”
Furthermore, a fan tried to connect the dots with Val and stated, “Still not nearly enough Jessica Jones for my liking, BUT the Luke Cage mention was dope. So he’s been working for Val doing CIA black ops shit the last few years..cannot wait for our defenders reunion in season 3.”

Meanwhile, one fan suggested that Cage might be the Iron Fist in the MCU or a member of the Heroes for Hire team and wrote, “Luke Cage was overseas? As a…hero for hire or something else?”
Luke Cage’s mention in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has indeed excited fans. However, they will have to wait and see what lies ahead for Mike Colter’s character.
