Man of Tomorrow will show us Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor in a different light. New comments from the actor show we’re in for an entirely new Luthor that comic fans will love.
As of now, little is known about Man of Tomorrow, outside of the fact that it will release on July 9, 2027. James Gunn will once again return to direct, which will see a litany of stars from Superman reprising their roles. This includes David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.
Newcomers to the movie, alongside Walls, include Lars Eidinger, who will play Brainiac, Aaron Pierre (John Stewart/Green Lantern), and Adria Arjona, Andre Royo, and Matthew Lillard in currently undisclosed roles.
DC fans are finally going to get a more comic-accurate Lex Luthor in all regards
During a recent talk with Entertainment Tonight, Hoult opened up about the Warsuit he’ll be wearing as Luthor in the movie. We’ve already seen some fight scenes being filmed for the movie, but Hoult confirmed that getting into the action was something he wanted to do as Luthor. “That was one of the things that, when I first spoke to James about playing the character, I was like ‘Hey, I want the Warsuit. I want to be in on some of the action as well.’”
While Luthor clearly loves the concept of stepping into action, it’s a new side of the character we’ve never seen on film, but have plenty in comics. In Man of Tomorrow, it seems like Luthor is much more in the mix when it comes to the action scenes, and teaming up with Superman to take on a common foe in a way he hasn’t yet before. Fans of DC Comics will definitely be excited to see it, as Luthor stepping into the Warsuit has produced some of the best stories in Superman’s long history.
On top of the different look, it also means we’ll likely be seeing way more action in Man of Tomorrow. Superman wasn’t exactly light on that, but with Luthor also getting involved, we’ll not only be seeing more action, but also more of Hoult in the movie. In Superman, Hoult’s Luthor was relegated mostly to staying inside of his gigantic LuthorCorp building. Now, though, he’ll be right next to Superman, and we’ll get to see their dynamic play off of each other in ways we haven’t yet.
