The final season of The Boys is going to bring an end to a lot of arcs that fans cannot wait to see come to fruition. Homelander (Antony Starr) and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) will finally put their enmity to rest, one way or the other. The rest of the team, under Annie January, would be leading a resistance against Homelander, who now has the backing of the president of the United States.
Fans are really excited to see a multitude of things. Usually, there are character stories to be excited about, but every season also pokes fun at the state of American politics right around the time of its release. Given the last few years, fans cannot wait to see how the final act of the show is going to play out, narratively, metanarratively, and character arc-wise.

What Is Homelander’s Fate Going To Be In The Boys Season 5?
Before going into Season 5 of The Boys, the state of the story was something like this:
Homelander is now the most powerful person in the world. He has the backing of the President (who basically defers to him), controls the media, and has loyal followers whom he has successfully radicalized against his enemies. Gen V Season 2 picked up right where The Boys Season 4 left off, depicting Marie and her friends joining the resistance, which also has A-Train. Also, Kimiko speaks now.
All that being said, the trailer shows audiences Homelander sitting in the Oval Office, which essentially speaks to how much power he has accumulated. Billy was seen driving away with the super virus, which is going to factor into the story. In the comics, Homelander is killed by Black Noir. However, some believe that a far worse fate awaits Homelander in the series.
The Trailer Has Some Scenes That Seem Ripped Right From The Comics
Homelander, raising his hand to bring it down on an unknown victim, is pulled right out of the comics. So is his pose in the Oval Office. The trailer is chock-full of such references.
Now, it must be noted that the show functions on very different rules when compared to the comics, especially given that the public in the comics believes aliens actually exist, and that Homelander came from a different planet. The trailer for the show has received a lot of praise, and it seems that Billy Butcher is going to make good on his promise of ‘scorched earth’ to Homelander.
What Other The Boys Spin-Offs Are Currently In The Works Over At Prime Video?
With The Boys coming to an end, Amazon is going to be hard-pressed to find a show that fills the niche of one of its most popular IPs. Of course, the franchise is not going to go away any time soon. Fans could expect a sequel to the story with an original idea. There are definitely multiple spin-offs in production, which will follow favourite characters like Soldier Boy.
The Boys: Vought Rising is in production (via Variety), and The Boys: Mexico is currently in development (via Deadline). The former will follow Soldier Boy and Stormfront, along with other characters that existed at the time when the characters were active. The show will be a prequel, set during the Second World War. Not much is known about The Boys: Mexico.
Although not officially confirmed, Gen V season 3 is also on the table.
Amazon MGM is likely going to keep streaming other shows that are set within The Boys universe, given how popular the franchise is. It remains to be seen if the kind of political satire that the show reigns can strike a chord again, or if fans will lean towards more hopeful superhero stories, if at all. After all, there are a lot of storylines from the comics that are simply absent in the show.
Who is Black Noir?
In the comics, it is revealed that Black Noir is a clone of Homelander, who committed some of the atrocities attributed to him, so that he can fulfill his genetic purpose to kill Homelander.
Do you need to watch Gen V to watch The Boys?
Gen V Season 1 is largely a side story. However, it has essential context for Season 2, characters from which will appear in the final Season of The Boys in a major capacity.
Who survives in The Boys comic book?
Among the Boys, Hughie Campbell is the only one to survive. Among the Supes that have served in The Seven, Starlight and The Deep survive. Hughie and Starlight get married.
Who wrote The Boys?
The series is written by Garth Ennis and illustrated by Darick Robertson.
Now, there are a lot of characters that are going to die in the show- perhaps we will see them in a prequel? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
The Final Season of The Boys will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
