Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama traded towering walls for a galaxy far, far away with a new illustration for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The manga artist behind one of the most iconic action series of the last decade lent his distinctive style to the upcoming film, fusing two fan-favorite universes in a single striking image.

Attack on Titan manga creator Hajime Isayama produced a special illustration promoting Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. Star Wars Japan revealed the artwork on April 28, 2026, alongside a handwritten, signed message from the artist. The piece depicts the Mandalorian soaring through the air on a wire with Grogu strapped to his chest.

The illustration seemingly echoes the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear from Attack on Titan. The wire-propelled movement captures the same kinetic energy as the Survey Corps soldiers navigating at speed through open air. Star Wars Japan highlighted how the visual merges the distinct identities of both properties.
Isayama shared a personal note about his history with the Star Wars franchise. He recalled watching Episodes 6, 5, and 4 in reverse order at a host family’s home in Idaho. That experience became his introduction to the galaxy far, far away.
The creator described how the tension between cold, sterile spacecraft and the organic traces of dust and mildew gave Star Wars a sense of lived-in authenticity. That contrast, he explained, defined what the franchise represents to him. He added that Grogu is cute, beyond what language can properly express.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will arrive in cinemas globally on May 22, 2026, continuing the storyline from the Disney+ television series. Isayama’s Attack on Titan manga ran from September 2009 through April 2021 and grew into a worldwide phenomenon. The anime adaptation broadcast across a decade from 2013 to 2023. His contribution follows a pattern of anime creator tie-ins for the film’s Japanese marketing push.
Lucasfilm previously partnered with Bleach creator Tite Kubo on a collaboration visual for the Andor season finale in 2025.
