Suspected armed robbers stormed Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State in the early hours of Thursday, June 20, 2024.  The robbers reportedly gained access to the school premises through the back that was not fenced in an attempt to rob students.  Some students of the private university founded by the Urhobo Advancement Foundation (UAF) raised the alarm over the invasion as some ran into the bush for safety. The Police who were alerted to the incident by the fleeing students responded almost immediately and chased the criminal gang away from the University. Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident said the suspected robbers came in through the broken fence at the back of the school, but the police responded swiftly and they all fled. First of all, the school is not under siege and no student in the bush.
