With Daredevil and Spider-Man both based in New York, fans have long dreamed of seeing the two superheroes fighting crime together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While that seems unlikely to happen anytime soon, Daredevil: Born Again star Michael Gandolfini has revealed how he’d like to see the webslinger incorporated into the Disney+ show.

Gandolfini, who is the son of the late Sopranos actor James Gandolfini, currently stars in Daredevil: Born Again as Daniel Blake, an original character created for the show. Blake is a member of Wilson Fisk’s mayoral staff, having been recently promoted to Deputy Mayor for Communications of New York City.

How does Michael Gandolfini envision a Spider-Man crossover in Daredevil: Born Again?

During an interview with Inverse, Gandolfini touched on the MCU fandom’s desire to see Spider-Man swing by the Born Again set. “Can we get Spider-Man meeting me on the Staten Island Ferry or something,” the actor half-joked, alluding to the scene in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming where the superhero stops several criminals on the ferry.

Besides Charlie Cox’s titular Man Without Fear, only three other superheroes have appeared in Born Again during its first season: White Tiger, Punisher, and Swordsman, played by Kamar de los Reyes, Jon Bernthal, and Tony Dalton, respectively. However, other heroes like Ms. Marvel, have been mentioned, with Spider-Man even being indirectly mentioned by Fisk earlier in the season.

“In Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock (Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course,” reads the synopsis for the show’s first season.

Unlike most of Disney+’s MCU series, Daredevil: Born Again will receive a second season, which is currently in production. While plot details for Season 2 remain under wraps, set photos suggest that Mayor Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force will play a major role. The upcoming season will consist of eight episodes, one less than Marvel originally announced for the Disney+ continuation.

The Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale will be released on Disney+ on April 15, 2025. The show’s second season is set to premiere in early 2026.
