Does Bullseye know who Daredevil is in Born Again?
It’s become less clear whether Poindexter, aka Bullseye, has figured out that Matt Murdock is in fact Daredevil, but it looks like he might very soon.
When Dex assassinated Foggy in the first episode, it was presumed he did so out of revenge, which would be his MO, so to speak. As retired police detective Cherry puts in earlier in Episode 8, he tells Matt that “Poindexter was just trying to settle an old score with Foggy, and Karen, and you.” But Matt has his suspicions that something is off, that someone tried to silence Foggy before he won his case with Dumb Benny, and his hunch turns out to be right.
Matt has a conversation with Poindexter in prison, after he is sent to general population (hinting that someone wants him dead), trying to get him to share who hired him for the assassination. If Dex knows who Matt Murdock really is during this scene, either he’s keeping that information very close to the chest or he simply doesn’t know it. The latter would make sense if he was merely a mercenary for hire by Vanessa Fisk.
That said, Dex might be able to figure out Murdock’s real identity due to him dramatically taking a bullet for Wilson Fisk. He told him during the prison interrogation that good men “defend their worst enemies,” foreshadowing the plot twist that happens later that night at the Fisk’s black tie ball. He might also be able to tie Murdock’s heroism in saving the mayor to Daredevil.
The irony would be that his words to Matt in the prison could be the reason why the lawyer has a metaphorical death and will return as Daredevil in the future.
