MCU fans think they’ve found a nod to a classic Spider-Man villain in the Brand New Day trailer.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day, also known as Spider-Man 4, will be released in United States theaters this July. Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Wonder Man’s Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie will once again see Tom Holland reprise his MCU role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
“Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves,” the synopsis reads. “Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
What Spider-Man villain is teased in the Brand New Day trailer?
There have previously been rumors and reports that one of the villains who will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the Jackal, though this has not been officially confirmed by Marvel at this time. If it does turn out to be true, it’s also unclear how large a role the character will have in the film.
Nonetheless, fans are still thinking that he might show up in Brand New Day (which could then potentially kick off an MCU clone saga, as the Jackal is responsible for creating Scarlet Spiders Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker), especially after the words “Green Jackal” have been spotted on a mini-keg featured in the new trailer.

This could merely be an Easter egg or accidental reference that wasn’t intended to confirm the Jackal’s presence in the film; however, that may also not be the case, and the character may appear in Brand New Day. Spider-Man fans can find out for sure when the movie arrives on July 31, 2026.
