Fire Force Season 3 Episode 25 Review: The Introduction to the Soul World Was Impeccable

Has there ever been a more creative ending for a Shonen anime? Well, I can’t think of any! What Fire Force has pulled off with its finale (Season 3 Episode 25) will certainly be remembered for decades to come. Sure, the series has been through countless ups and downs, but this ending, in particular, has truly managed to surpass my expectations.

Although we already got the gist of how the main story arc ends in the previous episode, Episode 25 wrapped up the remaining pieces perfectly. Like addressing every other character and what they’ve been up to, and especially with the cameo of the Soul Eater protagonists!

Now, please allow me to address it all in a bit more detail. To do that, I could divide this episode into three major segments, which I’ve outlined in the subheadings below. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

How Shinra Shapes the Rules of the Soul Eater World

First comes the insane world-building of Soul Eater by none other than Shinra. Like, even I was not sure how he would delete despair from humanity. Haumea also kept asking that. The suffering would never end if there were the fear of death. So what does Shinra do?

He reduces the value of life on Earth! And humanity enters a world of madness. No one is afraid to die anymore, and chaos is everywhere. It sounds a little dumb, but I’m all for it! Then what? Even Haumea finally gets peace of mind. Inca and Iris also come back to life.

Plus, it was great to see Charon reuniting with Haumea once again. Her adorable face when she felt the presence of hope in Shinra’s world was hard to look away from. And finally, Shinra also makes sure that the entire power system of Fire Force is wiped out of existence. So no more spontaneous human combustion anymore. Wasn’t it all so hopeful?

The Fire Force Epilogue Connects All the Loose Ends

While the above has been the epic conclusion of the main plot, what about the characters who are alive? What will they do next without the ignition powers? The epilogue addresses that in the best way possible. Basically, the strong ones remain strong, but now under the new physical laws of this world.

We see Captain Obi become insanely OP for that reason. And of course, Burns, Benimaru, Joker, Kurono, Sho, Ogun, and everyone else get to live a fulfilling life. Shinra, however, is on a whole other level. His harem has just grown further. Now, even Inca joins the team.

After Iris and Hibana, Inca unironically wants Shinra’s kids! Well, that was again typical Fire Force slander, but it was still a breath of fresh air after all the fighting. Even Arthur’s appearance in the finale made it more memorable. There’s still a lot I could mention, but one of the more wholesome moments was Shinra & Sho’s reunion with their mother.

The Masterclass Cameo of the Soul Eater Characters

Now, finally, the most unexpected yet most rewarding part of the entire episode, or you could say of the entire series, was the very final 2 minutes. It was where Fire Force truly cemented itself as the prequel to Soul Eater’s storyline. And we even see adult Shinra, Arthur, and Inca!

But, even being able to watch the main characters from Soul Eater, Kid (Death the Kid), Soul Evans, and Maka Albarn, in the ending of Fire Force, was not on my bingo list. But here we are! And after this, I can confidently say there hasn’t been any other creator who has connected two worlds of different stories this cohesively as Ohkubo did. I’m still in awe!

Fire Force Season 3 Finale “Hero’s Tale”: Final Verdict

Don’t get me talking about the visual feast that Fire Force Season 3 has been. Especially this finale episode took it to another level with the mad Soul Eater-style art incorporated into the Fire Force world. Furthermore, the soundtracks and direction of the episode were all so perfect.

It never felt forced and provided a fitting ending to the finale of this epic new-gen shonen anime. After My Hero Academia, we got another classic anime series ending back-to-back. Now, as the ending credits said, the next stop of our journey would be the soul world! Would they make a remake, though? Anyway, the episode overall deserves at least a 10.

Yes, at least!

Fire Force Season 3 is now available to watch on Crunchyroll.
