Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers recently came out in Stranger Things as gay, and Adin Ross and fans aren’t pleased by it at all. As those who have streamed the second part of season 5 of the hit Netflix series must already know, this revelation serves as an important factor in defeating Vecna, but Ross feels Netflix didn’t need to make such a big deal of Will’s coming out.
Adin Ross claims the ending of Stranger Things is ‘GoySlop’ saying Netflix didn’t need to make such a big deal of Will coming out.“What’s the point of pushing of these weird a-s narratives, how do you beat a monster by coming out?” pic.twitter.com/i6KjIaKotV— Adin Reports (@AdinReports) December 28, 2025
As reported by @AdinReports on X, in one of his latest streams, the online streamer ranted about the same. Saying that he didn’t watch the end of the show, he said,
Do you know what they did? The end of Stranger Things, the way that they beat the monster is that he comes out as being gay. You know how f***ing crazy that is, bro? Hollywood, I don’t know what’s gotten into you guys to push this little f***in’ weird-a** like thing. Like, genuinely bro, what the f**k was that? It’s just crazy, bro. I don’t know why the f**k they push it.
He proceeded to accept Will’s s*xu*lity and coming out, which was one of the major plots being built from the previous four seasons that fans had been looking forward to. At the same time, he also slammed the story for pushing the narrative of Will’s admittance to everyone about being gay, serving as a major factor in their battle against Vecna.
What’s the point of f***ing pushing this weird-a** narrative? How do you beat the most craziest, strongest monster by coming out from the closet? It makes no f***ing sense. So, it is what it is. It’s insane. I understand he’s gay, like, that’s great. Fantastic, right? But you’re telling me right now there’s an intervention, he tells everyone he’s gay and that’s how he beats the monster? That’s f***ing crazy. That’s a definition of Hollywood goy slop.
To say the least, even though Will’s coming clean about liking men was one moment that everyone was long waiting for, bringing it about as a plot integral to defeating Vecna in the finale doesn’t sound all that appealing – neither to Adin Ross, nor to the fans.

While everyone had seen Will’s latest revelation coming for a long time now, fans aren’t really pleased with how the show creators decided to bring it about. If anything, quite a few of them are voicing their dissatisfaction and criticism of the same, lashing out about how integral they made Will’s coming out in the final plot.
Taking to the comment section of the post from @AdinReports on X, here’s what these fans and netizens have to say about the same:
That’s not the point lol adin truly understood he was gay in the show you can tell by dialogue but in the last season we didn’t need this sit down and explanation to ensure he beats the monster lol next thing the other kid will sit down and say he’s black and that’s how he saves…— Griggz (@MerrickMgm693) December 28, 2025
It’s performative nonsense & it didn’t elevate the story whatsoever. Rather, it turned the show into a punchline.— HawksByTheSea (@Hawksbythesea) December 28, 2025

They ruined a great opportunity in writing and screenplay by virtue signaling gay agenda politics and selling out their fan base I hope they are happy— ManchurianReport (@ManchurianRpt) December 28, 2025
Plus, the scene could have been executed in a much better way instead of the five-minute-long scene that pulled everything together, so fans’ disappointment about the same is only understandable.
What Happened in Will Byersʼ Coming Out Scene in Stranger Things?

Stranger Things started with Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers serving as an integral part of the story, and now it is set to end with him as the hero of the story as well. In the latest released episode 7, aka Chapter Seven: The Bridge, Will realizes that the only way to free his mind from Vecna’s grip is to face his deepest secrets – one of these being coming out.
To be more precise, Vecna had shown him a possible future where his friends reacted not with rejection but with worry at Will’s revelation about being gay because they feared that life would be harder for him. This feeling made him feel even more isolated, leading him to push everyone away. But he also realized that he needed to be brave and bold enough to be honest in the hope of avoiding that future entirely – and so he did.
In the moment, Will’s mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) and his friends assembled around him in a circle as he came out with the big reveal, tears glistening in his eyes. He says,
I haven’t told any of you this because I don’t want you to see me differently. But the truth is, I am different. I don’t like girls. I mean, I do. Just not like you guys do. I had this crush on someone, even though I know they’re not like me.
Saying this last line, he choked up as he looked directly at his best friend, Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard). This was followed by Robin (Maya Hawke) nodding in loving approval, before Joyce interrupted him to say he’ll never lose her, followed by his brother, Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and his friends, all of whom chimed in with their support. “Or me,” they each said as they stood up to embrace him in a group hug, as he sobbed, enveloped in their love.
Though this nearly five-minute scene was another tear-jerking moment for Will, judging from the fans’ reaction to it, it could have been executed more properly. Still, it is what it is.

Stranger Things Finale is set to premiere on New Year’s Eve at 5 p.m. PT. The rest of the episodes can currently be streamed on Netflix.
