According to some recent reports, the upcoming Supergirl DCU movie has held its first test screening.
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Supergirl will be released in United States theaters next summer. Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, the film will see Milly Alcock reprise her role as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl after she briefly appeared at the end of 2025’s Superman, which was directed by James Gunn.
What is the new update on Supergirl?
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, the first screening of Supergirl was held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Richtman said he’s “heard nothing but good things from several people.”
Insider Cryptic HD QUALITY reposted the news and shared some new insights.
“Yes, Supergirl had a test screening. Roughly 2 hours 5 mins,” the post reads. “From what I heard, Feedback was not that great but it wasn’t a bad film. Some scenes shined alot more than others. Milly is praised for her acting in the role. Lobo has 2 fights. The villain is underwhelming.”

The official runtime for Supergirl has not yet been shared by DC, meaning this should be treated as a rumor at this time. Given that this was just a test screening, scenes could be added to or deleted from the final cut of the movie when it arrives on June 26, 2026.
“When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice,” the official synopsis reads.
In addition to Alcock, the cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll. Gunn serves as a producer alongside Peter Safran.
