With The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 2 released on April 8, 2026, the story continues, only this time with a major shift in focus. Instead of how the previous episode kept Arthur’s point of view as the main focus, the focus of the second episode was Tessia’s adventure.

On the production side, Studio A-Cat continues to disappoint us with mediocre animation that feels like a “PowerPoint slideshow” and nothing more. However, this time it felt a bit better than how the previous episode was, but then the desynced audio and lip movement had it. Nevertheless, here’s what went down in The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 2.

Tessia Sets on an Adventure to Mend Broken Relations

The episode, titled “The Princess Begins Adventuring“, begins with Tessia, Vio, and Feyrith sitting down at an Inn, when Tessia reveals that their next quest is hunting a wild boar in human territory. As they were trying to leave, a few other patrons who were looking for trouble tried to get in their way. However, Tessia quickly deals a few, and they make their escape, thanks to Fey’s Wall of Water spell.

As they catch a carriage and continue with their journey, Tessia reminisces about Virion’s words regarding the conflicted relationships among elves, humans, and dwarves. As the narration goes on, Virion further explains that a three-kingdom treaty brought an end to the hostility; yet the peace was limited to only the kingdoms and not among the citizens. Virion wanted Tessia to be an example and mend the broken relationships.

However, the human village they visited and offered their help to immediately cast them out for being of elven origin. No matter how many people they asked, everyone either ignored or rejected them. As they were at that point clueless, a pair of children approached them and told them the location of the boar, which was disturbing the village.

As they reached the boar’s location, the powerful mana beast appeared almost immediately. No matter how much they tried and pressed on with their magic attacks, it seemed not to affect the mana beast. In turn, it was the beast that was dominating the battlefield and had the three of them on the ropes. Despite having them cornered, Tessia insisted that they kept pushing on against the large beast.

Following Tessia’s plan of attack, Fey lured the beast into chasing him while Vio trapped it inside a massive crater. To put in the finishing blow, Tessia conjured large boulders to physically inflict damage. However, it was in vain again as the beast escaped the pit trap. Pushed to a corner, Tessia suddenly remembers that Arthur taught her how to manifest mana into physical attacks like punches.

Thanks to Arthur’s teaching, Tessia punches the boar and takes it down in a single hit. However, despite saving the village, not a single ounce of gratitude awaited their return. The episode ends with Tessia standing outside Arthur’s house and making an attempt to meet him, but is scared off as his mother and sister arrive at the gate.

The Beginning After the End Season 2 Episode 2 Final Verdict

With the recap out of the way, now let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of the episode. As I’ve said before, Studio A-Cat has lost my trust with the TBATE Season 2 animation, and Episode 2 didn’t help the cause. The episode was filled with scenes where characters move their mouths, and what do they say? Nothing. Complete pin drop silence. Furthermore, the saga of slideshow animation continues, which makes me believe they’ve really given up.

The issues with Studio A-Cat’s animation for the series have been piling up. First, the random out-of-focus scene from Episode 1, and now the muted audio in Episode 2. If you ask for my opinion, it doesn’t seem really good for the anime series. At this point, the only thing holding it together is the popularity and fan base generated by the original web novel and manhwa series.

Narratively, it felt okay with the perspective switched to Tessia instead of Arthur, like the previous episode. While we do get to see a glimpse of him and Jasmine in the episode, it wasn’t that significant. Nevertheless, I can always back the narration at least, thanks to TurtleMe’s beautiful writing, but the animation curse continues for the TBATE anime series.
