As expected, Dispatch did give the entire fanbase a huge kick in the jewels. It was more or less expected because of all the wholesome buildup through multiple episodes, and a cryptic preview, something terrible was expected. If you haven’t played already, better grab a pack of tissues because you’ll be needing them.

Spoiler Alert !!!Major spoilers for Dispatch episode 6 ahead.

Why Did Chase Sacrifice Himself at the End of the Dispatch Episode 6?

Right from the beginning of Dispatch, Chase has been Robert’s constant companion and has aided him in becoming a professional dispatcher. Being a former Brave Brigade member, Chase had to retire early because he aged twice as fast from using his powers.

To keep on living the rest of his days, Chase ended up being a dispatcher at SDN. As foul as his mouth gets at times, he was genuinely a good guy at the house party because after the fight, he came back to apologise to Inivisigal.

During the low moment, Robert talks it out with Chase and how he sees hope in Z-Team because now that they’re both retired heroes. This might have sparked something in Chase, because being a hero doesn’t depend on a person’s past; rather, it’s about taking the right call when required.

So when Inivisigal was left for dead by Shroud at the end of the episode, Chase took the brave way to go out, and that’s by being a hero. In some way, Chase did know that he wouldn’t be coming back and said his catchphrase, “Keep up,” as his final words.

This is one tiny scene that was enough to showcase the hardships of being a hero, as sometimes it means sacrificing yourself. Making this the saddest moment in the entirety of Dispatch.

Did Chase Really Hate Invisigal, or Was It Just Surface-Level Dislike?

It’s not like Chase hated Invisigal; it’s more like he doesn’t believe in redemptions because he thinks heroes are born, not made. Invisigal has always been a misfit because she never abides by orders, but her heart wants to do what’s right.

The entire story of Dispatch has been about redemption and showing different perspectives. In the end, Chase did understand how he wanted to be remembered, and that’s as a hero. Furthermore, he saved the Invisigal because she’s the future generation, and he’s too old to remain as one.

In the end, his final sacrifice to save Invisigal was a way to own up to being rude to her and giving up on living a mundane life. Even though he hated Invisigal, she went up against all odds to help Robert, and that’s common between them both.

Chase didn’t want Robert to be like him and wanted to save things that Robert cares about. In a way, Chase sees Robert as his own son, because he had been a babysitter for him as well. With deep bonds and desire, this was Chase’s way to show what being a hero really means.
