Avengers: Doomsday may feature more surprise characters than thought. The upcoming ensemble already boasts an impressive cast. However, a new rumor suggests Marvel may be hiding some tricks up its sleeve.
What is the latest Avengers: Doomsday casting rumor?
In a new Q&A about the Avengers franchise, scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus was asked if it contains any characters that haven’t been announced yet. Perez said, “there’s at least 8-9 more that haven’t been confirmed yet that I know have filmed things on set.”
Before reading much into it, it should be noted that this is just a rumor. Marvel has not confirmed the same at the time of writing. What unannounced characters might these be? Recent teases suggest that at least one of them could be Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel, a fan-favorite.
Fans will find it hard to imagine Doomsday featuring the X-Men without an appearance from Monica Rambeau. The character was last seen hanging out with Beast in an alternate reality at the end of The Marvels. However, another report suggests that only one of the Marvels will share the screen with the Avengers. Another likely candidate is Vision, depending on the events of the upcoming VisionQuest.

Most recently, Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming revealed that the Doomsday script featured secret characters in the script. Marvel reportedly used alternate names to hide certain returns. The film has been confirmed to feature the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Thunderbolts/New Avengers, and Sam Wilson’s reformed Avengers team.
As for other details, Perez also shared that Doomsday will continue the Kang storyline in some fashion. Before it was called Doomsday, the fifth Avengers movie was titled The Kang Dynasty. The film would have followed through on a multiversal war that was teased via Kang and his variants’ multiple appearances in the MCU.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently slated to release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
