Joy Boy’s entire appearance has not been revealed in One Piece yet, as he is only shown as a silhouette so far. However, Emet stated that the historical figure has a striking resemblance to Monkey D. Luffy. The silhouette shows him wearing a wide-brimmed hat resembling Luffy’s Straw Hat.
Recent manga chapters also show that his right leg and right hand were not normal. The panel suggests that he had a peg in place of his right leg, and his right hand closely resembles a hook.
Is Joy Boy Related to Luffy in One Piece?
The primary connection between Joy Boy and Luffy is that the latter has consumed the same devil fruit as Joy Boy, and both of them have awakened its ability, which turns them into the incarnation of the sun god Nika. As soon as Luffy awakened his fruit, Zunesha announced the return of Joy Boy, which suggests Luffy might be the successor of Joy Boy.
Both characters seem to share the same ideals of bringing freedom and liberation to the world.

During the God Valley Incident, Rocks D. Xebec asked Imu whether he feared Davy D. Jones or Joy Boy more. This means that Imu fears the existence of Joy Boy, and it could be because Imu had to fight Joy Boy during the Void Century. It is possible that after fighting Joy Boy during the Void Century and experiencing his devastating powers firsthand, Imu became afraid of the pirate.

The full extent of Joy Boy’s powers is still unknown, but he was a powerful character nonetheless. In fact, he was so powerful that the First Twenty Kingdoms had to band together to defeat him. He was also able to hear the Voice of All Things.
Joy Boy ate the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, the Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit that was later consumed by Luffy. He became an incarnation of the sun god Nika, and it granted him the power to fight however he wanted to. He also awakened his Devil Fruit’s true abilities.
He was also among the rare people who wielded Supreme King Haki. Dorry and Broggy confirmed that Joy Boy’s Haki was more powerful than that of Shanks, but with no hostility behind it. He was also able to tie Haki into a knot and preserve it for centuries. Once the knot came undone, the burst was so powerful that it knocked every Marine near Egghead, including the Vice Admirals, unconscious.
