The word is out: Todd Howard technically confirmed that Fallout 5 exists, following the warm reception of live-action’s latest season. During an interview with The Game Business, Howard responded to fan pressure demanding to capitalize on the show’s success to make new games.
For Todd Howard, making more seasons of the show seems like the right move, and capitalizing on the popularity. He is glad the show is doing well on its own and holds a positive view about the next Fallout game. This is what he said during the interview.
Everybody will say to us, ‘it’s really disappointing you don’t have a new game to take advantage of this’. And it’s like, ‘well, the show is great. It is what it is. It’s doing great for us. We’re taking advantage of it. And when the next main Fallout game comes along. I think it’ll do great as well’.
This might be the confirmation we needed out of Todd Howard to pump us up about Fallout 5. Let’s see what Bethesda cooks up with the sequel.

Todd Howard has been selective about sharing details about the Fallout franchise about what they’d do next. But Todd Howard stating “it’s the franchise that we’re doing the most in right now,” (via IGN) does confirm that multiple Fallout projects are under development.
Furthermore, it was not known whether all the rumored developments are for remakes or not. However, following the recent hint from Howard, it can be expected that Bethesda is tinkering with the ideas for the “next main Fallout game.”
Naturally, it would be Fallout 5, but what if it’s New Vegas 2? Considering the second season of the TV show takes place in New Vegas and the Mojave Wasteland. Maybe the next game would combine multiple areas, just like The Elder Scrolls 6 is. The options are limitless.
Regardless, the possibility of getting a new Fallout story that hasn’t been touched before is exciting enough. But perhaps we might have to stick around for a long time to see it all in action.
Don’t Expect Fallout 5 to Release Very Soon

Right now, it is known that Bethesda is hard at work on releasing The Elder Scrolls 6, and that’s about it. If there’s a possibility for Fallout 5, then we might have to wait until 2030 (not a joke), because TES 6 is expected around 2027.
Considering the long time required to build an RPG title, it would be natural that the team at Bethesda would need time. Furthermore, the rumors around remakes could slow the process down. On the brighter side, we’d get to enjoy familiar experiences in a new light, which might be a bonus for many.
Do you think the next main Fallout game would take place in a new setting, or will it be New Vegas 2? Share with us in the comments below.
