Sandra Bullock has worked in tons of movies over the years, though only a few of them have been straight-to-streaming ones. And, by ‘few of them’, we really mean just two movies, both of which are R-rated Netflix originals that she decided to be a part of: Bird Box (2018) and The Unforgivable (2021).
If ranked by the audience score, then the 2021 thriller-crime flick comes out on top, since it has been widely approved by fans worldwide. This is true especially as compared to the 2018 horror-sci-fi one, which somehow managed to appease the critics but failed to please the general audiences worldwide that much. Both of them are currently available for streaming on Netflix.

Directed by Nora Fingscheidt, The Unforgivable was about Ruth Slater (played by Bullock), who is a criminal released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime and who attempts to re-enter society. But as she tries to put her life back together again, the road isn’t very easy in a world that refuses to forgive her past.
On Rotten Tomatoes, this film has successfully earned the favor of the general audience, based on its 75% approval score from 1,000+ ratings. The critics, however, deemed it rotten, giving it an average of 38% on the Tomatometer, based on 91 reviews. The audience consensus for this one says,
Although it’s slow in spots, The Unforgivable has a great Sandra Bullock performance and a story that makes you think.
On IMDb, as well, this film earned a successful 7.2 stars out of 10.
On the other hand, there’s Bird Box. This one surrounds the life of Malorie and her two children, who have to undertake a dangerous journey blindfolded in order to survive, years after an unseen entity wreaks havoc on humankind by compelling people to commit suicide. The post-apocalyptic horror thriller was directed by Susanne Bier.
This one somewhat earned the critics’ favor, but failed to curry favor with the general audience. On Rotten Tomatoes, it stands at a not-so-approving 58% score from audiences, based on 5,000+ ratings, alongside a somewhat-approving 64% score from critics, based on 170 reviews. The critics’ consensus for this one, on RT, says,
Bird Box never quite reaches its intriguing potential, but strong acting and an effectively chilly mood offer intermittently creepy compensation.
On IMDb, it stands at 6.6 stars out of 10.

Sandra Bullock is “Coming back to life” One Day at a Time

Ever since the death of long-time lover Bryan Randall two years ago, Sandra Bullock had pretty much gone off the radar as she stepped away from the screens, too, to deal with her grief. But now she appears to be slowly returning to public life, reportedly making subtle shoutouts to friends and returning to set without “her soulmate, her best friend.”
Per an insider’s reports to Star Magazine about Bullock (via She Knows),
There are still hard days when she really misses Bryan and feels lonely. She’s still adjusting to life without him. She’s still mourning. She’s coming back to life, but it’s still one day at a time. Thankfully, she has some really incredible people around her to help carry it.
Thanks to her friends Jennifer Aniston and Keanu Reeves, she has reportedly been doing much better than before in this healing process of hers. And, besides them, her friend and Practical Magic co-star Nicole Kidman has been a great help as well. As the insiders continued to add about Bullock’s close circle and healing process,
Spending time with Nicole and some of the original film’s producing team, which was largely women, was fantastic. She wanted to have that experience, and that reunion she knew would feed her soul.
Bullock started dating Randall in 2015 after meeting him at her son’s birthday party. Following their union, he didn’t take long to become a father figure to her two adopted children, Louis and Laila, and the pair were inseparable. Then, in 2023, Randall tragically passed away due to ALS, leading to the actress stepping back from the spotlight.
Sandra Bullock is slowly working her way towards making her return to the screens, though, with her upcoming projects including Practical Magic 2, which is scheduled to be released in 2026, and two other projects: Vigilance and an untitled romantic thriller Amazon MGM Studios project with Reeves, both of which are currently in pre-production.
