Moreover, the new season has received the weakest critical and audience scores to date.

Data released by the streaming platform indicates that the latest installment drew 7.4 million views in its opening week. It represents a 52 percent drop from Season 3’s 15.2 million. By comparison, The Witcher Season 2 had registered 18.5 million views, while the data for Season 1 is not available.

As per the publication, the first episode of Season 4 was watched by 35 percent fewer U.S. households than the Season 3 premiere, with 577k viewers compared to 885k. The show also ranked below Nobody Wants This Season 2 on Netflix’s global chart for the week of October 27 to November 2.
The drop in viewership numbers comes amid a significant shift for the series, with Liam Hemsworth stepping into the lead role of Geralt of Rivia, previously portrayed by Henry Cavill.
Despite the anticipation surrounding Hemsworth’s debut, Season 4 has struggled to maintain the show’s earlier ratings, becoming the lowest-rated installment in the franchise’s history. The season currently holds a 56 percent critic score and 19 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Regardless of the decline, Netflix has already completed filming for Season 5, which will serve as the series’ final chapter. However, the disappointing response to Season 4 may impact the future of any potential Witcher spin-offs. As of now, the release date of the fifth season has not been announced.
