The Punisher television special may set up an exciting MCU debut.
Later this year, Marvel will release a television special on Disney+ that’s focused on Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/Punisher character. The special is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who co-wrote the script with Bernthal.
What is the update on the Punisher MCU special?
According to scooper @Majestic_ucm, Marvel Television’s Punisher MCU special will premiere this summer and will have a post-credit scene that will in some way revolve around Jean Grey.
“This premieres in June, and I was told the post-credits scene is related to Jean Grey and Damage Control,” the post reads. “I also heard they’re revealing the release date for the second Spider-Man trailer, BrandNewday.”
This is only a rumor, and it should be treated as such at this time. While there’s been much speculation regarding Sadie Sink potentially playing Jean Grey in the MCU, this has not yet been officially announced at this time. All that’s known is that Sink will be appearing in both Spider-Man: Brand New Day, also known as Spider-Man 4, and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Having said that, it is known that Bernthal will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which arrives in United States theaters this July. It is expected that the Punisher special will somehow have some connectivity with Spider-Man 4, though how that all exactly plays out remains to be seen.
The Punisher special does not yet have an official premiere date from Marvel Studios, meaning it releasing in June is not confirmed as of yet. There’s also been no word from Sony Pictures regarding when the second Brand New Day trailer will be released.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives on July 31, 2026. Following that is Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026, and then Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
