Pedro Pascal was well aware of the backlash that he got after starring as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The film is said to be one of Disney’s cheapest movies, which in itself is a shock.

In a recent Vanity Fair cover story, Pascal said (via Variety),

I’m more aware of disgruntlement around my casting than anything I’ve ever done.

The regular complaints he hears are, “He’s too old. He’s not right. He needs to shave.”

Vanessa Kirby, who stars alongside Pascal as Sue Storm, said one thing about the actor that defends all the claims worldwide. She said,

He doesn’t have much armor, so he shows himself to you straight away, and you trust that person because he’s revealing himself to you in this very brave way.

Honestly, anyone who has starred alongside The Last of Us actor has always had good words to say about him. Pascal’s work in the film does justice to the role and how.

Is The Fantastic Four Really Disney’s Cheapest MCU Film?

Newly filed U.K. production documents suggest The Fantastic Four: First Steps cost less to make than any MCU film Disney has shot in Britain over the past decade.

As per Forbes, the report suggests that the film, set in a 1960s retro-futuristic universe, features flying classic cars and mid-century modern skylines. Despite its American look, production took place at Pinewood Studios in the U.K., which helped keep costs down while maintaining high visual ambition.

U.K. tax incentives played a key role. The Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit reimburses up to 25.5% of qualifying U.K. spending. It requires at least 10% of core costs locally.

The documents confirm that the film was produced far more economically than other UK-shot Marvel Cinematic Universe films, making it one of Disney’s most cost-efficient MCU entries to date.

Pedro Pascal’s professional life seems to hit the audience in several ways, but his personal life is where he finds comfort and calm. His and Sarah Paulson’s friendship spans over three decades, dating back to 1993 when both were 18 in New York City.

Pascal, now 50, couldn’t attend Paulson’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on December 2, 2025, but he ensured his presence was felt through a deeply personal tribute.

During the ceremony (via People), Amanda Peet read Pascal’s written message, sharing his emotional words, saying,

To Sarah, I’ll just say there is no me without you. Without you, I wouldn’t believe in the moon or the sun in the sky. You are the opening in the road. You are the decorated forest, and most importantly, you’re my friend, and I’m yours eternally.

Paulson echoed the memory, remarking on seeing the film Fearless together. Their friendship remains rooted in shared experiences and mutual admiration. Such is Pedro Pascal’s aura, which makes each person comfortable alongside him.
