One Piece Episode 1153 Review: Joy Boy’s Haki Gets the Anime Treatment It Deserved

Spread the love

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for One Piece Episode 1153.

I was particularly hyped about One Piece Episode 1153 because of the post-credit scenes of the last installment, as it created a lot of anticipation for the much-awaited Joy Boy reveal. However, I didn’t expect it to be this heavy and thrilling, especially in terms of adapting the Joy Boy Haki reveal, which, for me, was the highlight of the entire episode.

I also liked the fact that Vegapunk reignited the significance of the One Piece treasure, as it no longer feels like a distant goal at the end of a long journey. It now feels like a dangerous truth that would not only uncover the history but also reshape the future of the One Piece world. It pushed the story forward in a serious way and reminded me that One Piece has entered its most dangerous phase.

Vegapunk’s Final Revelation Reignites the Fire of the One Piece Treasure

Vegapunk’s explanation of the One Piece treasure was the heart of the first part for me, as he explained its importance in a calm and serious way, which made the reveal feel even stronger. For a long time, I felt that the One Piece treasure was portrayed as a personal dream for pirates, but Vegapunk makes it abundantly clear that the treasure is much more than that. He framed it as something that will inevitably drag the entire world into conflict and turn it upside down.

What made this revelation hit harder was how other major characters reacted to it, and you could feel the tension shift across the world. Pirates, Marines, and rulers all seemed to realize at the same time that this race is no longer optional, and it has once again got me hyped up about what the series’ most important plot tool has been since the beginning. Some characters looked terrified, others looked determined, and a few looked almost relieved that the truth was finally out.

From Koby’s determination to Buggy’s excitement, the One Piece no longer feels like just Gol D. Roger’s legacy but something far bigger that everyone is now chasing. Vegapunk makes it clear that whoever finds it will change the world, whether they want to or not, and following this revelation, the race for the treasure not only feels urgent but also dangerous and unavoidable.

Toei Animation Did Justice to Joy Boy’s Haki Reveal

The second part of the entire episode revolved around Joy Boy as the battle of Egghead finally came to an end. As Emet couldn’t stop all the Elders by himself, he decided to reveal his trump card, which was Joy Boy’s strongest Haki captured inside a knot. I expected it to be good, but Toei did a great job as his Haki reveal was easily the most visually powerful moment of the entire One Piece episode. The pressure, the sound design, and the animation all work together to show that this is not normal Haki.

What I liked the most about Joy Boy’s Haki was that it was so powerful that it not only took down the Elders but also startled Imu. This was a good way to hint at the true potential of Joy Boy in terms of powers and capabilities. It honestly felt ancient and overwhelming, like something that doesn’t belong to the present era. However, the silhouette reveal of Joy Boy left me slightly disappointed. I wasn’t expecting a full reveal, but I did hope for something more meaningful. Still, it was enough to create hype that will become a huge topic of discussion on the internet.

Overall, it was a great One Piece episode with some major revelations and developments that unleashed all kinds of chaos. It truly carried the essence of a final saga development and has got me excited about what the series is going to offer next. Still, there are a few more episodes left for the Egghead Island arc, and I am still hoping for something even bigger to be revealed that would add more depth to the story.

One Piece is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
