Some new light has been shed on one of the mysterious villains who will be working for Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.
Last month, scooper MAJESTIC_ucm reported that Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom would have a team of five individuals, many of whom we have already seen before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Charlize Theron’s Clea, and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch were a variant of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk known as Master Hulk and a shapeshifter who will reportedly take the form of Hayley Atwell‘s Peggy Carter.
What are the latest details about Avengers: Doomsday’s mystery villain?
MAJESTIC_ucm has now revealed new details about why the shapeshifter will be masquerading as Peggy in Doomsday. In a new post on X, the scooper explained that the shapeshifting woman will pose as Peggy to deceive Steve Rogers. This will reportedly be done to get ahold of Steve and Peggy’s son for Doctor Doom.

Atwell was first reported to be part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast in December 2024, although she was absent from Marvel Studios‘ viral March 2025 cast announcement livestream, which was done to announce the start of production on the MCU movie.
However, Chris Evans, whose involvement in Doomsday was also reported in December 2024, was also not part of the livestream. He was later confirmed by Marvel to be returning as Steve Rogers in the first teaser trailer for the movie, which was released in December 2025.
Based on MAJESTIC_ucm’s scoops, Atwell will be portraying two characters. The real Peggy Carter, who reportedly lives on Earth-828 with Steve Rogers and their son, and the shapeshifter when she is masquerading as Peggy. The true identity of the shapeshifter remains unknown at this time.
Exact plot details remain under wraps for Doomsday, although the movie is confirmed to bring together the Avengers, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men for the first time on the big screen. Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay, with the Russo Brothers returning as directors.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
