Marvel Studios may be taking an unconventional approach to marketing Avengers: Secret Wars, which could mean that fans see their first look at the superhero crossover way earlier than expected.
The four teaser trailers for Avengers: Doomsday were first shown attached to screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash before being released online between December 23, 2025, and January 13, 2026. For Secret Wars, Marvel Studios will reportedly do something similar, although it will require fans to either wait several weeks after Doomsday’s release or purchase a second ticket.

According to scooper divinity seeker on X, “the first look at [Avengers: Secret Wars] will debut in January as a special post-credits scene for IMAX screenings of [Avengers: Doomsday.” The scooper stressed that “nothing is locked in” yet, meaning that Marvel Studios could ultimately opt to market Secret Wars another way.
If it does happen, divinity seeker pointed out that “this means this is an unprecedented and industry-first sneak peek attached to a movie’s run not initially, but two to three weeks in.”

The reason for the Secret Wars sneak peek coming later in its theatrical run is due to its release date changes impacting its use of IMAX screens. The movie was originally scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, before being delayed to December 18, 2026, the same date as Warner Bros.’ Dune: Part Three. Since Dune: Part Three had been on that spot first, it had already secured IMAX exclusivity for its opening weekend across all U.S. IMAX screens.
Doomsday will only play in IMAX theaters in select international markets for its opening weekend, and will take over the U.S. screens when Dune: Part Three’s exclusivity is up, which will likely be a week or two later, lining up with divinity seeker’s report of a January 2027 Secret Wars sneak peek launch.
Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to begin filming in the coming months, ahead of its December 17, 2027, release date. Joe and Anthony Russo are back in the director’s chairs for what is expected to be the final installment in the Multiverse Saga.
