Metal Gear Solid Remaster Runs at a Disappointing 30FPS

Remastered Metal Gear Solid is all set to release next month, as part of a remastered collection. Konami is releasing the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, featuring the remastered version of the original Metal Gear game along with the two sequels and a bunch of digital collectibles as well.

The game is coming out on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, PC through Steam, and on the Nintendo Switch. Konami has revealed a few details about the game’s framerate and the game’s resolution details and fans are left frustrated about the locked framerates. The remastered collection comes out on the 24th October.

Konami has released resolution and framerate details for the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection
From the details revealed by Konami about the upcoming collection, the remastered trilogy is said to be upscaled to 1080p resolution without any option of 4K gameplay on any platform, except for the handheld mode on the Switch which will run on 720p and 1080p resolution achievable on TV mode only.
While the lack of 4K resolution gameplay has disappointed fans, it was also quite frustrating to the gaming community to learn about the 30fps lock across all platforms. Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 can reach up to 60fps on all platforms, however, except for the Nintendo Switch which will receive all three games in the collection locked to 30fps.

The official website also mentions the included games and collectibles in the collection.

A digital screenplay book and a digital master book from the games are included as well. A message from the development team has also stated that the team intends to allow fans to “play the games as they were, as first released, on the latest platforms”. Adding further about another upcoming title, METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER, the development team shared this on Konami.com :
“We are working hard for METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER to be a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.”
METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER has no scheduled release date yet.

System Requirements and Collection Price Also Revealed
The remastered collection is all set for a 24th October release
Given the age of the original games in the trilogy, it’s no surprise that the game’s system requirements aren’t much. The remastered games should run just fine with a 3rd-generation i7 or a 7th-generation i5 paired with 8GB or 16GB RAM. The game should run with Intel’s inbuilt HD Graphics 4000 or NVIDIA’s GTX 980. Finally, the collection only requires 9 GB of hard disk space.

What might be surprising to many is that the remastered collection will cost $59.99 on Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and the Nintendo e-store. With a lower resolution and a locked framerate, there will be anticipation to see just how different the Switch version looks, which is surprisingly priced the same as other platforms.
