“I was constantly in a lot of physical pain”: The Hidden Reality of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Wasn’t as Glamorous as It Looked

Taylor Swift: The End of an Era tells a lot about the singer’s journey throughout her epic The Eras Tour. Swift, who recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, recalled the challenging days of the tour and why not taking a break was never an option. She said (via Today),

For me, when I’m on tour, especially the ‘Eras Tour,’ I just make a decision at the beginning of the tour that there’s no option to not go on stage.

Revealing how she prevented getting sick, she said,

Even if you have the stomach flu, which I had multiple times during the tour, my goal was, like, never let them know you have the stomach flu.

She also revealed how she bore with the pain that came alongside wearing those dazzling outfits, saying,

I was constantly in a lot of physical pain, but when I put that on, I was just like, ‘No, this is popping. I’m doing it.

In all, no matter what, Taylor Swift, who turned 36 the day before, has been pushing through limits ever since, and that’s exactly what makes her so close to the Swifties (fanbase) and loved by them.

English singer-songwriter and Taylor Swift’s friend, Florence Welch, was taken aback when she first went into the rehearsals for her appearance in The Eras Tour.

According to Billboard, Welch revealed that she thought that she had just run on the stage, greet fans, perform her part, and leave. But it wasn’t that. She said,

When I got there, they were like, ‘This is your choreography.’ I was like, ‘No, no, no, wait, you must be confused. I don’t do this! I’m gonna f— this up!’

She added,

The feeling of coming up for the first time in that lift, it was kind of like landing on Mars, ’cause I’d never seen the stage lit up before.

She continued, saying,

It’s like, you see this cultural moment from the outside, and I suddenly was inside of it. It was wild, but it was really fun and completely terrifying.

Though Welch definitely played her part the best and helped Swift wrap up one of five Wembley nights, the feeling of working alongside a diva might be surreal.

Taylor Swift: The End of an Era is a nod to Swift’s undying passion for music and her creative ambitions. The Eras Tour was designed for maximalism with three-plus hours, a tracklist, and constant revamps.

The documentary also reveals the emotional weight behind the tour. From the Southport attack to the canceled Vienna shows, Swift handled things patiently. Her ability to balance feelings tells about her strong personality, required to keep the tour in action.

Finally, the show highlights Swift’s growth throughout. Whether it’s about revising the choreography or evolving the show mid-tour, the Love Story singer showed her hell-bent nature when it comes to delivering a performance for her fans.
