James Gunn has shared a photo of him standing next to Zack Snyder, and fans are now hoping this means the two of them will be working together at some point.
Snyder was an instrumental part of the DC Extended Universe, which some fans have dubbed the Snyderverse, which officially concluded with 2023’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. He directed 2013’s Man of Steel and 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, while he’s also the credited director on 2017’s Justice League. Zack Snyder’s Justice League was then released in March 2021.
Gunn, meanwhile, is now in charge of Warner Bros. Pictures’ new DCU alongside Peter Safran. So far, the only DCU project that has been released is Creature Commandos Season 1, while Superman flies into theaters this coming July.
On X, Gunn shared a picture of him and Snyder with the caption, “Always a pleasure catching up with my friend @ZackSnyder, consummate filmmaker (and a doubly consummate storyteller!)” View the post below:

What are fans saying about a Zack Snyder and James Gunn collaboration?
Some DC fans are now hoping this means there could be a future Snyder and Gunn collaboration at Warner Bros. One fan said Gunn should let Snyder direct a DCU Batman movie, while others are hoping the story Snyder started telling in Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be given a formal conclusion.

It’s worth noting that Snyder and Gunn have collaborated before. Snyder directed Dawn of the Dead, the 2004 zombie movie that’s a remake of George A. Romero’s 1978 movie, based on a script written by Gunn. Gunn also recently said that he talked to Snyder about whether or not he should give David Corenswet’s Man of Steel red trunks in the forthcoming movie.
While Gunn’s attention is now on Superman, Peacemaker Season 2, and more forthcoming DCU projects, Snyder is now working on a new action movie for Netflix that will be about the Los Angeles police department.
