A new Doctor Strange 3 rumor may eventually spoil an anticipated Avengers movie. The MCU has featured Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme in the previous two installments as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
What is the Doctor Strange 3 update?
According to reliable insider Alex Perez, it appears that Marvel Studios’ team has deprioritized Doctor Strange 3. During a recent Q&A session for The Cosmic Circus, Perez was asked to give an update on the third movie.
In his response, the scooper said that Doctor Strange 3 is “on the backburner. Marvel’s movie focus right now is on Black Panther 3, Shang-Chi 2, Spider-Man 5, the X-Men, Thunderbolts* sequel, Blade, Midnight Sons, and the next Avengers title.”
At the moment, every rumor and speculation should be taken with a grain of salt unless there’s an official update from Marvel Studios.
While the insider didn’t provide any specific reason for why Doctor Strange 3 is getting sidelined, one theory may come into play regarding the character. Interestingly, it may also spoil the experience of many while watching next year’s much-awaited Avengers: Secret Wars.

The reason for Doctor Strange 3 being on the “backburner” could be due to his eventual fate in Secret Wars. He may end up dying in the movie’s story, similar to how it happened in the Marvel comics.
In the Secret Wars comic storyline, Strange becomes Sheriff Strange on Battleworld, being a key enforcer of God-Emperor Doom. However, he eventually defies Doom but pays the price by sacrificing his life to save other surviving Marvel heroes.
If Avengers: Secret Wars follows this exact arc for Strange, there’s no way he will come out alive when the movie’s story culminates. However, it’s just a theory for now.
Doctor Strange was last seen in the 2022 movie Multiverse of Madness.
