James Gunn has recently offered up some updates on the status of several DCU projects, including Clayface and the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow.

In a recent post on Instagram’s Threads, Gunn was asked what his day-to-day looked like as one of DC Studios’ co-CEOs. Gunn exclaimed that there was no “average day,” as most of his time is spent working on a variety of things.

What’s the latest update on several DCU projects?

He then broke down some of his current workload, and noted he was working on storyboard and department meetings for Man of Tomorrow, as well as doing things like scouting and casting for the highly anticipated movie set to focus on the villain Brainiac.

Gunn also said he was working on cuts of both Supergirl and Lanterns, as well as working on how to handle the marketing for the projects. As for the world of Batman, Gunn said he was working on “supporting the Batman 2 crew” to make sure Matt Reeves’ next project “goes smoothly,” and that he’s still waiting to see the first cut of Clayface.

Currently, DC Studios has several projects in the works. Up next for the company is Supergirl, set to release on June 26, 2026, and will star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, who meets the young Ruthye Marye Knoll and joins her on a quest for revenge. Following that, DC Studios will also release Clayface on September 11, 2026. That film will star Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen/Clayface, and comes from a script written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.

Also in 2026, DC Studios will release Lanterns, an HBO series based on the iconic group the Green Lanterns. That series doesn’t have an official release date yet, but will star Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and will also star Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poiorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, and more in other roles.

Finally, Man of Tomorrow and The Batman: Part II are set for release on July 9 and October 1, 2027, respectively.
