According to a new rumor, Marvel may have found its director for the next Avengers movie after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Who is rumored to be directing the next Avengers movie?
According to a recent rumor from insider My Time to Shine, Kevin Feige has his eye on Destin Daniel Cretton for a future Avengers movie. The report notes that, if Spider-Man: Brand New Day performs well, Feige could tap Cretton to take over the Avengers franchise following Secret Wars.
The next two Avengers movies, Doomsday and Secret Wars, are set to be directed by Anthony and Joseph Russo, who also directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The pair are the third-highest-grossing directors of all time, and are responsible for some of Marvel Studios’ biggest box office successes.

Cretton is no stranger to the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He directed 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and also worked on two episodes of the upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man. Of course, he’ll also step behind the camera for the highly anticipated fourth Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day.
The movie will once again be led by Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalo are also expected to return for the sequel.
They will be joined by cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Jon Bernthal, and Tillman, among others. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, and Avi Arad.
Spider-Man 4 will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027).
