A big X-Men character may be joining the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie is set to be released in United States theaters this December. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows in 2027.
So far, Marvel has released four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers. The first teaser revealed that Chris Evans is officially returning to the MCU as Steve Rogers, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth and final teaser focused on Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing/Ben Grimm, and more.
What is the update on Avengers: Doomsday’s cast
According to a new rumor from scooper @Majestic_ucm, Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier may be “communicating with Jean Grey from Earth-616 using Cerebro technology” during Avengers: Doomsday. In another comment, @Majestic_ucm said that they “think” that Sadie Sink will then appear in Doomsday as Jean Grey.
This is only a rumor at this time, and it should be treated as such. It is known that Sink will appear in both Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Avengers: Secret Wars, though there’s been no announcement about her being in Avengers: Doomsday.
Additionally, who Sink is playing in the MCU remains an unsolved mystery at this time. There’s been no shortage of speculation and rumors — Jean Grey is one of the more common ones that seems to keep popping up — but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
If the rumor is accurate, though, it’s possible that Sink could show up in Doomsday in some capacity; a post-credit scene seems plausible, though more will likely become clear after we get a sense of her role in Brand New Day.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is dated for December 17, 2027.
