In a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, Oscar-winning Anne Hathaway dropped a major, bittersweet production update regarding the long-awaited sequel to The Princess Diaries 3. The actress revealed that the creative team, led by director Adele Lim, recently experienced a massive “story breakthrough.”
She said:
I’m busy making baby number three, and that has sort of taken the place of knowing when exactly I can make Princess Diaries 3.
I can say I think we had a story breakthrough. I think we are moving in the right direction. The script that we were working on — we kind of had to start over with this new direction, which is not the update I think anybody wants, but we all feel really good that this is gonna be the one.
While this breakthrough is excellent news for the film’s creative future, it required the writers to completely scrap their previous draft and restart the script from scratch. Compounding this creative reset, Hathaway joyfully shared that she is currently pregnant with her third child, which has naturally shifted her immediate focus away from a strict filming timeline.

However, as per Screenrant, teh co-actors, Andrews and Pine, are looking forward to joining Hathaway for the third part of the movie franchise.
