As Forza Horizon 6 hits six million players, the first Festival Playlist is now live, and with it comes the first Treasure Hunt, set in the Ohtani region of the map. If you’ve spotted this challenge in the Festival Playlist menu and found yourself staring at the photo clue with no clear idea of where to go, you’re not alone.
Fortunately, we have found it, and we’ll walk you through exactly where the Ohtani Treasure is located in Forza Horizon 6, along with the reward you’ll earn for smashing it open.
Where to Find the Ohtani Treasure Hunt Chest in Forza Horizon 6

The treasure chest is located near the Kinkaku-Ji Temple, one of the most striking landmarks in the whole region, and one that is inspired directly from its real-world counterpart, the iconic golden Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. To place it on the map, the temple sits southwest of the Ohtani Horizon Festival Site and northwest of Mei’s House.
The photo clue in the playlist hints that the chest sits near a temple structure, the temple being the one we just discussed. The chest can be found tucked behind and west of the temple, across the lake, and along the circular gravel/ dirt road that wraps around the building.
To get there efficiently, head to the road running between Mei’s House and the Horizon Festival Site, then look for an off-road trail branching north. Follow that trail, and it will bring you directly to the lake behind Kinkaku-Ji. The chest will appear along the gravel track, and once you spot it, simply drive over it, which will cause it to pop like an XP board.
Ohtani Treasure Hunt Rewards

Smashing open the Ohtani Treasure Hunt Chest earns you two things: 100,000 credits and 3 Festival Playlist points.
Credits are the primary currency of Forza Horizon 6, and can be used for anything ranging from purchasing new cars to upgrading existing ones and even buying houses. A free 100,000 CR, especially early in a new season, can end up making the real difference in getting you your dream car to race with in the game.
The 3 Playlist points, on the other hand, contribute towards the seasonal reward thresholds. The first major reward is unlocked when the player gathers 15 points: a 1999 Toyota Altezza RS200 Z Edition, and the top reward at 30 points is a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR. With only one Treasure Hunt per season, those 3 points pull real weight toward your total.
