Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World – gave us another amazing episode, that released on April 15, 2026. The episode was full of Subaru’s problem-solving. He was, once more, trying to avoid dying again and again. By the end of the episode, it appeared that finally everything is fine, only for everyone to fall into a weird portal of magic.
The next episode will probably have the cast in the tower, so without further ado, let’s dive into a review of the episode, covering what exactly happened.

Ram’s Powers Finally Crack, Do Something Even Reinhard Couldn’t

The episode began with everyone finally ready to set out on the journey. The problem, as we already know, was that it was going to be difficult. You simply cannot get closer to the tower. However, Subaru and Emilia received information from a kind tavern owner that birds can be seen heading towards the tower, and, conveniently, Ram can see visions of other animals.
Ram uses her vision to see the birds and successfully guides the carriage through the sandstorm. However, the moment Subaru and others cross the spatial barrier that was holding them back, Subaru is mysteriously killed. This moment served as a good reminder of the dark and unique themes of this anime.
Subaru’s Tactical Intelligence Is Finally Showing

Usually, it would take many deaths before Subaru would figure out the reason for his death. However, this time, he was able to pinpoint it quite early. He realized that the land dragon’s scream was attracting the attention of the tower, which was resulting in his death, so he immediately comforted the land dragon.
He was also able to use the information the tavern owner gave him and Emilia at the right moment, showing that he can think clearly under pressure. This is really impressive, considering that everyone around him is so strong and that he stands no chance of surviving if the situation truly gets out of hand.

This was another perfectly paced episode. By the end, it appeared as if all the problems were solved. However, in the proper Re:ZERO fashion, it gave us multiple shocks and a cliffhanger at the end that makes you want to watch the next episode right away.
However, it seems like Subaru’s deaths are slowly becoming less impactful; otherwise, this episode could’ve gained a perfect 10/10 rating. Hopefully, that won’t be the case for the rest of the season.
