It’s funny how the entire class became so serious only after Ayanokoji achieved a perfect score in math on the special test. But it’s not that surprising for us, because this is where Classroom of the Elite shines the brightest anyway. The moments where Ayanokoji intentionally reveals some of his secrets to a select few people.
The reactions on everyone’s faces are worth looking at, though. Still, that’s only scratching the surface of everything Episode 5 has shown. In the latter half, and especially at the very end, things got quite spicy. Horikita’s step forward and the next special test, there’s a lot to uncover.
How Class 2-D Reacts After Ayanokoji Becomes Class Topper
To be fair, everyone’s surprised reaction was understandable. Also, it was cool to see Sudo standing up in Ayanokoji’s defense. But the best part was how Horikita covered up for Ayanokoji’s big reveal. It almost seemed like even Ayanokoji had no idea how to deal with the situation.
But Horikita made it seem like it was all her idea. That way, other students won’t be so wary of Ayanokoji. So now everyone believes that Ayanokoji hid his math skills because Horikita asked him to. But interestingly, they also suspect he might have more skills hidden.
Heck, even Sudo could guess that Ayanokoji must have insane fighting strength, based on his fight against Hosen. Also, the situation with Ichinose is progressing well for Ayanokoji. With Horikita’s help, things are back on track for him again. But I’m sure it might have all been part of his plan from the beginning.
Horikita Joining the Student Council Will Spice Up the Game
Things are about to get crazy as Horikita joins the student council. She strategizes it along with Ayanokoji, of course. If she joins them, then she can monitor President Nagumo up close. So, in case he’s plotting something against Ayanokoji, Suzune can identify that.
Surprisingly, it didn’t even take that much effort for her to get Nagumo to agree to her request. Is Nagumo really that easygoing? Or is there something even he is cooking amidst all this?

Right after that, two more notable incidents take place in Season 4 Episode 5. First is the intense encounter between Ayanokoji and Amasawa. Even more so because it happened in front of Karuizawa. And yes, Amasawa interrupted them when Ayanokoji almost kissed Karuizawa. That was insane. I couldn’t believe how far this man can go.
Anyway, Ayanokoji does consider that Amasawa might be the White Room student, but things end there for the moment as she leaves shortly after. Following that, even the interaction between Ayanokoji and Nanase was quite important, as he could guess that the Class 1 student would target him again in another joint participation test.
Well, it didn’t take too long before that got announced. Near the very end of the episode, Chabashira-sensei announces that their next summer vacation would be worth looking forward to. There, they will all be participating in an island survival game. And I’m guessing Class 1-D students will also take part in it?

The entirety of Season 4 Episode 5 was mostly about the aftermath of Ayanokoji revealing one of his secret skills, how others reacted, and how the situation was handled to avoid raising any flags. But the main selling point was the finale, which teased the Deserted Survival Island arc.
The episode felt like a perfect build-up for what’s to come next. And talking about Ayanokoji’s search for the White Room Student. That may continue for a few more episodes, as Episode 5 did not really shed any light on that. Now, in terms of animation and soundtracks, it was as good as any other Classroom of the Elite episode. Thus, it deserves a pretty high rating, I’d say.
Classroom of the Elite Season 4 is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
