After the hard-hitting and intense first six episodes wrap, the finale of Bloodhounds Season 2 shows how Kim Geon-woo and Hong Woo-jin have their final battles against both Kang In-beom and our main season antagonist, Im Baek-jeong. These fights take place in an abandoned building, with the freedom and life of Geon-woo’s mother at stake.
Against all odds, when Geon-woo finally starts to stop thinking like a boxer and becomes just as savage and feral as his opponent, he brings down Baek-jeong in a thrilling back-and-forth. But before he could be brought to justice, he was taken away from the police convoy by agents of the National Intelligence Services, whom Hong Min-beom had hired to eliminate Baek-jeong, something that they seemingly accomplished after an image of the dead body was sent to Min-beom.
But in reality, it was all a ruse, as the NIS agent in charge of Baek-jeong’s execution wants to utilize the antagonist’s underworld connections and martial prowess to the betterment of South Korea. Thus, Baek-jeong is presented with two options: either he becomes an NIS informant and fetches more information about one of his IKFC sponsors who has been bringing drugs into the country, or Min-beom’s request can be followed, and he can receive a bullet in his head then and there.
Stuck between a hard place and a guaranteed death, Baek-jeong chooses to live and help the NIS catch his sponsor, making him their Bloodhound. Once the deal is struck, a cosmetics expert makes it look like he’s been shot, which is the image Min-beom receives and believes Baek-jeong is dead for good.
This implies there’s a high probability he’ll return for Season 3 if the series is renewed, something yet to be confirmed.

Towards the end, both of ur main protagonists, Kim Geon-woo and Hong Woo-jin, emerge victorious over the enemy, keeping their promise to protect their loved ones at the cost of their own lives if it comes to it.
But on a deeper level, we also see the gradual character development of Geon-woo and Woo-jin, who leave behind their boxer hearts, filled with pride and grand integrity, and become colder and more practical to save their loved ones. This subtle change is reflected in the end of the finale episode as well, where both steel their resolve once more, and promise to get stronger to face more such challenges in the future.
This was a much-welcome character development for our protagonists, especially Geon-woo, who has been a highly pious Boy Scout right from the start. This season made him realize that to defeat a beast, one has to become a scarier, feral beast.
