The Mummy has received many adaptations, but not in the form of Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. It is as if The Conjuring and Poltergeist met the world of the Mummy franchise. A stark departure from the action-adventure tone of the Brendan Fraser era, it instead leans into the visceral, claustrophobic horror that defines Cronin’s filmography.
Produced by Warner Bros., we expect the film to be released on HBO Max, not on Netflix or Apple TV. However, the details are still rolling out as the film will first have a traditional theatrical release.

When Will Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Release on Streaming?

The film is officially set for a theatrical release in the United States on April 17, 2026, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. But in some territories, it will start releasing on April 15 (via Blum House). However, no confirmed streaming (SVOD) or digital release date has been announced yet.
This means the film might, based on industry trends, be released on streaming after 40 to 60 days of the end of its theatrical release window. Based on these estimates, we might have Lee Cronin’s The Mummy release on Premium Video-on-Demand subscriptions by June–July 2026, and for it to release on streaming by late 2026 or early 2027.
Since the film is backed by Warner Bros. and Blumhouse, it will likely follow a similar pattern to recent horror releases, prioritizing theatrical buzz before heading to digital.

Right now, the only way to watch Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is in theaters. Releasing on April 17, 2026, in the United States, fans can buy tickets on Fandango, Cinemark, AMC, IMAX, or any other regional site based on their location.
Once the theatrical window closes, the film is expected to release on HBO Max for streaming. Given that it already has a placeholder listing on Apple TV, it will be available digitally at some point, though currently marked as “coming soon.”
It is also expected to be released on Amazon Prime Video for digital rentals or purchase. The physical copy, Blu-ray or DVD, is expected to be released by late 2026, and fans can purchase it on Amazon or any other site of their choice.

Coming from the Evil Dead Rise-famed Lee Cronin, he has explicitly stated that his version is not a “reimagining” of the 1999 film, but a return to the gothic horror roots of the 1932 original (via IGN).
The film follows a couple who share three kids. However, their eldest daughter, Katie, disappears after being cursed, and 8 years later, is found in a shocking condition. Dark, mysterious, and appearing no less than a corpse, Katie wreaks havoc on the family (via Feature First).
Unlike earlier adventure-driven versions of The Mummy, Cronin’s take is firmly rooted in psychological horror. As seen from the trailer, it is brutal, gory, and violent. For fans who love horror with a bit of a mythical element and a psychological dread, it would serve as a perfect watch.
Produced by horror heavyweights James Wan and Jason Blum, the film reflects a broader shift in modern horror where legacy IPs are reimagined through a darker, more intimate lens.
