Netflix’s four-part documentary about Sean Combs, aka P. Diddy, has unearthed a lot about both his personal and professional life. Kirk Burrows, the co-founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, described how 2Pac and Biggie’s growing closeness shifted the balance of power in ways that unsettled the label.

As per TUDUM by Netflix, Burrowes said,

Sean was insanely jealous of Biggie and ’Pac’s friendship. For Sean, being a marketer — you’re a manipulator. And there’s envy for people who have success [and] fame, with no manipulation.

Burrowes further suggested that Diddy sensed the influence 2Pac and Biggie were building independently of him. Their fame, talent, and rising image pressured the established Bad Boy hierarchy.

Why Diddy Saw 2Pac and Biggie as Threats?

Diddy reportedly viewed 2Pac as a powerful figure. The All Eyez On Me singer’s charisma, boldness, and ability to bring people together seemed to be a challenge to Diddy.

As with Biggie, the threat stemmed from success rather than rebellion. As Biggie laddering up, he became the face of East Coast rap, sometimes overshadowing Diddy.

Burrowes notes that P. Diddy grew uneasy watching Biggie gain a voice that went beyond Bad Boy’s control. Diddy also worried about the natural bond forming between Pac and Biggie. For him, their friendship fueled quiet anxieties about losing influence over the people.

P. Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, has publicly called out Netflix’s Sean Combs: The Reckoning. She called the docuseries false, misleading, and intentionally harmful to her family.

In a statement to Deadline, she said,

I am writing this statement to correct some of the lies presented in the Netflix, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released on December 2, 2025.These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean’s upbringing and family life is intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation.

Janice Combs also disputed allegations from Kirk Burrowes about one of his claims that Diddy once slapped her after the tragic 1991 City College incident. She labeled the story to be patently false and has accused Burrowes of the same.

She has also criticized Netflix for promoting the series with a salacious narrative. Demanding accountability, Janice Combs has called for the documentary’s alleged inaccuracies to be publicly retracted.

Is this the voice of a mother protecting her son or otherwise? What do you think of it all? Let us know in the comments below.
