Vince McMahon is known for having his way in the WWE when he was the company’s former head. This is evident from the recent remarks made by CJ Perry, aka Lana, during a conversation at Inside the Ring. Talking about the time when she and Rusev had a storyline presence in the ring as Russians, Lana shared:
Once Trump became president he sat me and Miro down. He’s like ok no more politics. He’s like it’s too polarizing and controversial.
Apparently, she also stated that according to her, McMahon was using her as a puppet to talk about the politics of the US back then.

Apart from Lana and Rusev featuring in WWE storylines as Russians, including their iconic feud with John Cena with the United States title on the line, several other political storylines have garnered much popularity during the Vince McMahon era.
Referring to himself as an Iraqi sympathizer, Sgt. Slaughter betrayed the United States (via WWE YouTube) and sided with Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War in the early 1990s. He became one of the most despised villains as a result of playing on the strong sense of American patriotism that prevailed at the time.

Similarly, Muhammad Hassan became a character who opposed the discrimination and stereotyping he encountered after the events of 9/11 and the Iraq War. According to Pro Wrestling Stories, although the original idea was politically critical, its implementation was highly contentious and frequently employed anti-American strategies to stir up controversy.
These political storylines not only provided insight into the kind of environment that existed in American society at the time, but they also established the unique manner in which Vince McMahon ran the storylines in the company.

The Battle of Billionaires has been a popular feud between Vince McMahon and Donald Trump that revealed the kind of dynamics both corporate giants had inside the squared circle.
Both of them were the corner men for two opposing wrestlers in a match where the loser’s hair would be shaved. This was a spectacle pitting two real-life, flamboyant billionaires against each other, blurring the lines between corporate and celebrity power.
Beyond wrestling, Trump and McMahon have a profound relationship, with McMahon’s wife, Linda McMahon, becoming a prominent figure in the Republican Party. She even became Administrator of the Small Business Administration under President Trump, which consolidated the bond between Trump and the McMahon family.
However, with Vince McMahon out of the existing dynamics due to the Janel Grant lawsuit, the synergy between him and Trump and the political storylines is a thing of the past now.
