Enemies in Helldivers 2 bring a decent amount of heat to the battlefield with their relentless attacks, and sometimes just the sheer number of them. But it seems Arrowhead wants to literally turn up the heat of the planet.
In their recent developer blog, “Diving into the Development Team – Part 1,” while talking about the procedure of how an update is made in the studio, the team responsible is called GameWorld. While explaining that, Alex Bolle also dropped a teasing line that has fans speculating about what’s next:
They have some of the “hottest” stuff cooking in right now, but not before we get things in order!
Could this be a hint at a new lava or volcanic biome in the works? Let’s dive in.

That “hottest” stuff cooking line wasn’t just flavor text for the fun of it; it certainly was a clue to something. The GameWorld team is responsible for crafting biomes and mission environments, which means “hottest” could literally mean volcanic.
It’s exactly the right kind of spectacle Arrowhead is capable of building to melt both armor, players, and expectations.
Given Helldivers 2’s reputation for offering some of the most creative planetary hazards. Just imagine a world filled with lava, erupting terrain, molten rivers, and heat-resistant enemies. This wouldn’t be too far-fetched.

Sure, just saying “some of the ‘hottest’ stuff” doesn’t exactly mean a new biome, but given that fire tornado planets already exist, the hottest new frontier has fans naturally speculating about a volcanic or lava-based biome.
And if that biome comes complete with magma rivers, erupting hazards (new ways to self-kill), and possibly new enemy types evolved (just not the bugs, PLEASE!!) to thrive in fiery conditions. It’s the next logical step for Arrowhead’s planetary diversity.

If we are talking diversity in the biome and planet environment, Helldivers 2 already boasts an impressive variety. And each of them brings their own tactical twist.
Players are already facing the various biomes: Sandy Biomes’ blistering deserts, the ancient Primordial Biomes’ thick jungles, frozen Arctic Biomes, and the gloomy Moor Biomes’ deadly open field. All of these biomes have their own various planets, which have a variety of things.
We are not even done yet. There are also murky Swamp Biomes, unique Special Biomes, and the Terminid-specific worlds swarming with insectoid life. Beyond those lie the more Urban Megastructures (megacities), man-made battle zones that contrast the game’s wild planets.
With so many diverse landscapes already in play, a molten, volcanic addition would perfectly expand the environmental challenge to the next level. This will result in pushing Helldivers to truly fight fire with fire.
If not a volcanic/lava-based biome, what does the “hottest” signify here? Comment below to let us know your thoughts.
