Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man go through ‘Spider-puberty’, something that has already been seen in the trailers. Further, toy leaks have also suggested that the film is likely going to see the return of Savage Hulk, directly in connection with a theme that the film will be exploring. There are a myriad of powers that Spider-Man has in the comics that can be explored in the film, including some that have never been seen on screen before.
Since Raimi’s and Webb’s versions of the character appeared on screen, Spider-Man comics have updated some of the abilities that the character has had. Some have been temporary, others have existed for quite some time, but were simply forgotten. Regardless, it is possible that these powers might show up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and might even be here to stay come Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
1. Fangs, Stingers, and Night Vision

During the 2005 storyline, The Other, Morlun decided to take on a Spider-Man who was significantly weakened. This was thanks to the irradiated blood that Spider-Man has been dealing with since he was bitten by the radioactive spider. Peter would then retreat into a cocoon upon his death, emerging with new powers like Fangs, Stingers, and even Night Vision (without the aid of Stark tech, ofc). These abilities might be present in Brand New Day as Peter goes through changes, the kind that might take his story in a direction similar to that of Mark Ruffalo’s The Hulk.
2. Organic Webbing
Organic Webbing was not a part of Spider-Man’s mythology until Sam Raimi popularized the idea. Making a recent appearance in Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir series, organic webbing became a popular idea and a power that found its way into Spider-Man comics pretty quickly. In 2005’s The Other storyline, which was chronologically pretty close to Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Spider-Man develops organic webbing along with his other new abilities. This has also been heavily teased in the teaser for the film that was released. However, all the powers that came with The Other storyline would be undone as Spider-Man would trade the day he got married to Mephisto, in a bid to have his identity made secret again.
3. Muscle Expansion

Muscle expansion was one of the earliest abilities that Spider-Man had, which got completely erased from canon. Earlier iterations of the character, when he was being written by Stan Lee and was being drawn by Steve Ditko, Spider-Man used his muscle expansion ability to escape from being bound, which was essentially him flexing his muscles, pumping them with his blood, so that they may expand beyond normal human capabilities. This ability, however, became a relic of the past as time went on. However, given that there are implications that Spider-Man might face problems similar to the Hulk, Spider-Man might get his muscle-expanding powers back, just to tie the themes that the characters represent together.
4. Mind Control Through His Webbing

Savage Spider-Man was one of the more radical takes on the beloved web-crawler, but it won’t be the first time that the character received a monstrous upgrade. Becoming monstrous thanks to a power-enhancing drug, Peter Parker ends up developing organic webbing that allows him to control people’s minds. This is an ability he employs to convince the world that his rule might be the best for humanity. Sounds like JJJ’s dream Spider-Man, doesn’t he? This ability might make Peter in Brand New Day a little more menacing, but it would also create a character who might be able to pose a threat to Doctor Doom.
5. Sorcery

Spider-Man might not be among the traditional sorcerers that have come out of the Marvel Universe, but that does not mean that the character has not dabbled in the world of Magic. Under the influence of the Venom symbiote, Peter Parker enrolls in Kamar Taj to escape the machinations of Morbius, which results in him becoming a master of the mystic arts. While the chance for this to happen might have floated away with Spider-Man: No Way Home, it must be noted that Ned is also a sorcerer in MCU lore. While it is unclear how that might aid in Peter Parker gaining magic, it is something that might make the character a bigger player in the multiversal skirmish that is brewing in the MCU.
6. Venom Symbiote
The post-credit scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home shows audiences that a tiny part of Venom was left behind in the MCU. This means that the piece of the symbiote might find its way to Peter Parker, which might accelerate or clash with his Spider-puberty. It is also possible that the symbiote shows up towards the end of the film, such that Peter Parker can debut his black suit during Secret Wars, like it first did. Either way, the MCU is yet to see Peter Parker have his powers enhanced by Venom. It is also possible that instead of Morbius, it is being chased by Venom that pushes Peter to try his hand at Sorcery, given that the spell, in fact, did not work on it. This might mean that there is some magical connection that the symbiote has that allows it to negate even powerful spells.
7. Talking To Spiders

It has been a running joke across multiple continuities that Peter might be able to talk to Spiders. Aggravated by the presence of Squirrel Girl, who does, in fact, talk to Squirrels, it might be funny to some people in-universe that Spider-Man does actually talk to Spiders sometimes. The Other storyline allowed Spider-Man to talk to spiders. This was also made possible through Doctor Strange’s magic. When Peter took up the mystic arts, he was able to communicate with Spiders as well. This is an ability that makes Peter and Spider-Man a lot creepier. This would actually make sense in Brand New Day, given the darker and more mature tone the films seem to be taking.
8. Radiation Resistance

While there have been timelines where Peter’s irradiated blood has been harmful to him, the original Peter Parker was actually able to load himself up with radiation and use it to devastating effect in fights. This was on display when the character first came into contact with Morlun and learned his weakness to radiation. This allowed him to essentially store radiation in his body as he duked it out with the villain, eventually letting the radiation do all the work.
9. Acid Spit

This ability came to Spider-Man when he became the Man -Spider. There is a very potent possibility that fans would see the monstrous appearance of the character in Brand New Day, but it is unlikely that such a transformation will be around for long. Giving Peter acid spit, which he could use to devastating effect, might up the ick factor in the story, which, again, feels right at home for this horror-inspired iteration of Spider-Man.
10. Healing Factor

While not as versatile or overpowered as Wolverine’s and Deadpool’s, Spider-Man’s healing factor is nothing to scoff at. The character has regrown an eye in the span of days and has managed to scoff off some very serious damage during big battles and even street-level skirmishes. While this is simply an ability that has been forgotten in the comics, giving Peter this ability as a part of his ‘spider-puberty’ might result in Wolverine comparisons, something that might hurt the MCU, especially if it is trying to bring the latter into Secret Wars.
