Someone has to sit down and study Apple TV+ the way they like to play with a story, giving you moments of fresh air, just to follow that up with a slap to your face. The latest episode–The Things You Lost Along The Way–the sixth episode of Your Friends & Neighbours is out, and oh boy, you are in for a ride.
After weeks of taking us through the life of Coop, with him getting the boot, trying to live the same rich life after stealing from his friends, and waking up in a pool of blood, which is not even his but the ex-husband of the girl that he links secretly, things have been hectic.
After an episode of rush, thrill and almost getting beaten up by an underground art dealer, the sixth episode feels like a breath of fresh air, the type of episode that will leave you feeling good until they decide, that is enough and hit you with a scene that will have your jaws on the floor.
Trouble is starting to boil for Coop

Remember how the first episode starts with Coop (Jon Hamm) lying in a pool of blood–well, in the fifth episode, we get to know the blood is leaking from Olivia Munn’s ex-husband, Paul. And while Coop somehow manages to get out of there without drawing much attention, things are not all good.
The Westmont Village, a rich neighborhood with an extremely low crime rate, has piqued cops’ interest after a quarter-million-dollar Richard Millie special edition watch goes missing. While the investigation is not taken too seriously, thinking the owner might have misplaced it with his other super expensive watches, it’s the dead body of Paul that makes the cops believe there is something more than it seems.

After waking up next to the pool of blood, Coop does try to cover his trail by cleaning the blood where he slipped and fell and jumps in the pool to clear the blood off his body, but with today’s police practice even the slightest hint of you being there is enough to lead the cops on to you, or at least in the movies and series, and Coop who was seeing Olive secreatly has his DNA all over the place.
There are surely more lies, deception, and trouble coming his way, and it’s not too late before things catch up to him. While the investigation would have taken its sweet time, it’s the ending of the episode that could have fast-tracked him to end up in prison. After spending a wonderful day with his family looking at a college for Tori to go to, the whole family stops for dinner, and when Coop goes to his car in the rain to get an umbrella, things take a wild turn. The underground art dealer who was supposed to flip the million-dollar painting was punched by Coop when he tried to assault his partner in crime, Elena.

As the cops are already on the way, he has to explain who these people were, why he is involved with them, and the possibility of how his actions would have led to Paul’s death. While he can always lie about not knowing who they were or just call it off as mugging, the attention on him is too high, with only troubles on his horizon.
Looks like Nick’s fears came true

This episode takes a slower pace than other episodes, letting you breathe after getting chased by dogs, stealing, lying, and everything else; this episode focuses on Coop getting to spend some time with his family. The whole gang takes a trip to Princeton University to look for a college for his daughter, Tori.
Before the road trip, when Mel (Amanda Peet) and Nick are discussing the whole situation, his concern rises, worrying about how he could lose Mel if she falls in love with Coop again, especially since they are going to the college where they fell in love in the first place. After the huge birthday party he threw for Mel turned out to be not a hit. Mel left to rest on a trampoline, where Coop also ended up, and they shared a heartfelt conversation.

Mel had always regretted leaving Coop, after getting all the hate from her kids, but with Coop being more caring and attentive, she was starting to maybe fall for him again, and they really tapped into this in the sixth episode. After leaving the kids to explore the campus, the two go exploring the city by themselves and get super drunk, they end up in each other’s arms in a college town hotel. Seriously, Mel, what are you doing?
After her leaving him, draining him, and putting him in situations where he has to throw money like it grows on trees, now she is ready to mess it all up with Nick and play into his biggest insecurity. While the episode ends on a very intriguing note, you know it’s just chaos that is guaranteed to follow.
This was one of the most unique episode of Your Friends & Neighbours till now; the series is currently streaming on Apple TV+.
