Set images from Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 have emerged, showing the Man Without Fear in a black vigilante suit, with some red highlights, reminiscent of his garb from the Shadowland comic book storyline. This has garnered widespread attention amongst fans, who are eager to learn about the new black and red suit. There’s also curiosity about what the suit symbolizes and why Matt Murdock is wearing it.

Daredevil’s black and red suit in Born Again Season 2, explained

The black and red suit, Daredevil is expected to wear in Born Again Season 2 originates from the 2010 comic book storyline, Shadowland.

In this storyline, Daredevil fully embraces the darkness within him and abandons his no-kill rule. He dons the aforementioned black and red suit to represent his changed mindset. Murdock returns to New York City as the leader of the Hand Ninja Clan, establishing a temple called Shadowland, which doubles as a prison.

In addition, Murdock also kills Bullseye and grows more violent in his actions. He thus comes into conflict with his friends and allies, Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. However, Murdock finds an ally in fellow vigilante White Tiger.

It is later discovered that Murdock has been possessed by the Beast of the Hand, explaining his increased violence. Murdock then sacrifices himself to ensure Hell’s Kitchen’s safety. However, Daredevil tried to kill Bullseye once in the Born Again series but abandoned it.

As such, Daredevil’s adoption of the black and red suit because of his changed views on killing only happens in the Shadowland comics and there are other reasons as to why he would adopt the black and red suit in the MCU. One reason could be Born Again exploring certain elements of the Shadowland comic book storyline. Thus, the new black and red suit could represent said exploration.

Another possibility is Murdock having painted his standard red suit, black. His other suits were damaged by a grenade thrown into his apartment in the Season 1 finale, thus explaining why Murdock painted his regular suit.

Yet another possibility is Murdock deciding to become stealthier with his vigilantism, after Wilson Fisk enacted Martial law and set up curfew hours.
