Xbox fans got a barrage of announcements at Gamescom 2024, and right around now feels like a good time for a PlayStation showcase to happen and step things up. There’s been speculation swirling around the internet, as there always is when it comes to predicting a showcase from Sony.
While official announcements always come too late and much closer to the date of the actual event, one X/Twitter user claims to have insider information that could give us the clearest idea yet of when the big day will be.
Is the PlayStation Showcase 2024 Set to Make Waves in September?
There’s nothing quite like the anticipation of a showcase from a big gaming brand, PlayStation included. Unfortunately, Sony has a habit of keeping fans guessing the schedule.
With no solid timeline to go by, fans often rely on leakers and unofficial sources to piece together clues.

X/Twitter user @DetectiveSeeds thinks they might know the next PlayStation showcase date, though.
According to their sources from within the company—who’ve supposedly been right before—we should expect an announcement for the next showcase during the week of September 5th.

If that wasn’t enough to get people excited, they also mentioned the alleged date of the PlayStation showcase: September 12th.

Determining the date for the showcase isn’t so black-and-white, especially with the timing of the Tokyo Game Show (TGS), which begins at the end of September.
This has led to a split in opinions among fans. One reply argues there’s no way Sony would hold a showcase when it could just make a splash on the global stage.

OP argues that a September 12th PlayStation showcase would align perfectly with TGS. Sony could drop some bombshell announcements during the showcase, and then follow up with hands-on demos and deeper dives at TGS.

One thing’s for sure though: people are hoping it’s not going to be a disappointing reveal.
The last time rumors of a special PlayStation showcase were swirling around, it turned out to be an underwhelming State of Play that not many people had nice things to say about.
Before people even begin to hope for ‘good’ reveals, it remains to be seen whether any reveals are happening in the first place.
