The return of a Marvel hero could lead to a new version of the character being introduced into the MCU.
The MCU’s sixth stage officially began last July with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Other titles that are either already part of or expected to be part of Phase 6 following First Steps include Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, Wonder Man, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, VisionQuest, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Throughout all of those titles, the MCU has introduced a handful of new heroes, while it’s also brought some back that fans may have thought were gone for good. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, for example, will see Krysten Ritter reprise her role as Jessica Jones, and a large handful of the Fox X-Men characters are part of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.
Which new hero could soon be introduced into the MCU?
According to a new rumor, there’s another hero who may soon be returning to the MCU: Iron Fist.
When asked if the character has any sort of future in the MCU, Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus said, “I’ve heard that Finn Jones’ return would be as both hero and mentor. He’ll still be Iron Fist, but he’ll be looking for someone to replace him. The last time I heard, they wanted Lin Lie.”
This is only a rumor at this time, meaning it should be taken with a grain of salt. Marvel Studios has not confirmed or announced anything regarding Jones’ reprising his role as Iron Fist/Danny Rand at this time.
There have, of course, been plenty of rumors suggesting that he could return, with Ritter’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 casting announcement causing plenty of speculation that a Defenders reunion between Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Mike Colter’s Luke Cage could be in the works. Given that the Iron Fist Netflix Marvel Television show wasn’t very well-received by most critics or fans, though, it’s unclear if this is actually going to happen — and, if it is happening, there’s been no timeline announced, meaning it could still be years away.
