A new rumor claims Marvel might be eyeing one of Disney’s biggest rising stars to join its extensive superhero cinematic universe. Speculation is building that the studio could have big plans for Camp Rock 3’s Malachi Barton.
According to a post from @MyTimeToShineH, Barton is reportedly being considered for a significant role in the MCU. The insider shared the claim on X and simply asked the fans who they would like him to play, prompting plenty of character suggestions. However, Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm the casting report.

Marvel is expected to shift its focus heavily to the fully integrated X-Men franchise reboot after Secret Wars. The studio has already announced several younger actors for the franchise. Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Inde Navarrette, and Maya Boyd are among the actors to feature in the X-Men film. Marvel could potentially add another young actor to fill one of the unannounced mutant roles.
While nothing is confirmed, Barton’s potential jump to the MCU could mark a significant milestone for his fast-growing career.
Malachi Barton’s rising career before his potential MCU role
Beyond the superhero franchise speculation, Barton has built an impressive career across Disney’s TV and film slate. The 19-year-old rose to prominence as Beast Diaz in the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle, which ran from 2016 to 2018. He later stepped into the superhero genre by playing Colby Madden, also known as Flashform, in The Villains of Valley View.
On the film side, the young actor’s credits include 2021’s Under Wraps and its sequel, Under Wraps 2. He also played Victor in Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires. The Virginia-born actor will reprise his role in Zombies 5: Secrets of the Sea, which is scheduled to release in 2027.
Barton recently starred as Fletch in Camp Rock 3, which was released earlier this year. He has also joined another Disney+ series, Coven Academy, as Jake. It will premiere on October 1, 2026, on Freeform, and on October 2 on Disney+ and Hulu.
