While extraction shooters are meant to be ruthless, Embark does have a clever system to let everyone get fairly rewarded for joining raids in ARC Raiders. The late spawn system sometimes drops players during active raids so that they don’t miss out on rewards.
While the system was originally designed to keep raids populated and prevent them from becoming empty after approximately 10 minutes, it does have one notable flaw. When players join raids late, it causes them to have less time to complete objectives, which adds extra pressure.
The good news is that ARC Raiders developers are aware of the issue and wish to alleviate the pain associated with the late-join system.

In ARC Raiders, loot is all that matters; however, there has been a long perception that if someone joins a raid late, they’ll miss out on loot. Rather, the situation is otherwise, as late joiners can come across remnants of a raid and bag some loot without much fight.
The late spawn system may not give enough time to players to complete objectives, but they can get away with something valuable. Recently, ARC Raiders‘ design lead, Virgil Watkins, spoke of this to GamesRadar, and quoted the following:
Players are like, ‘The loot’s all gone,’ or whatever else. But players who late join economically profit way more than people who aren’t. The session, when they are fresh, does eventually get quieter, and very often they come across the remnants of fights or can maybe take out bigger drones or hit high-ticket areas more readily than other players. So that’s been a very interesting thing to look at.
Regardless, Watkins is only suggesting a different way to look at the late spawn system. Though it doesn’t mean that they aren’t aware of the frustration players feel around it.

In the same interview, Virgil Watkins agrees that when it comes to completing objectives for Trials, the late spawn feature is annoying in ARC Raiders. Players are ending up with less time, which in turn affects the objective progression. Here’s what Watkins stated:
With things like trials, where that is the only objective, then fine, that’s kind of off the table, and that really sucks, because that was the time you had set aside for it.
Since the developers are aware of the situation around the limitations of the late spawn system, they’re looking for ways to improve it. Priority is being given to remove the pain that comes with it, and that should be good news for all players.
