Curious about how Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu wrap up the action-packed storyline? The final act delivers a deadly Dragonsnake battle, a daring palace assault, and a sacrifice that nearly costs Din Djarin his life. With the Hutt Twins closing in, Grogu’s loyalty tested, and Rotta’s fate hanging in the balance, the ending reshapes the future for the Mandalorian and his apprentice.
Here is The Mandalorian and Grogu ending explained, covering Din Djarin’s final showdown and what comes next.
What happens to The Mandalorian and Grogu in the movie’s ending?
The film’s final act kicks off after the Hutt Twins capture Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) on Nal Hutta. They punish the Mandalorian for breaking his contract by forcing him to fight a Dragonsnake. Grogu and the Anzellans help Djarin escape, but the Dragonsnake poisons him fatally.
However, the Mandalorian cannot fit aboard the small Anzellan ship due to his size. He stays behind and covers Grogu and the Anzellans’ escape from the hostile planet. The poison then spreads through his body as he watches them fly away safely.
Grogu makes a pivotal choice and refuses to abandon the Mandalorian on Nal Hutta. He tends to the dying bounty hunter through the night without any help. Eventually, a fisherman on Nal Hutta gives Grogu an antidote that saves Djarin’s life.
Din Djarin recovers and decides to attack the Twins rather than flee the planet. He knows the Twins will hunt him and Grogu forever if they run now. The Mandalorian and Grogu then storm the Twins’ palace and tear through their droid security force.
Meanwhile, bounty hunter Embo blocks their path deep inside the palace walls during the assault. The Mandalorian fights Embo while Grogu frees Rotta (Jeremy Allen White) from the Twins’ captivity. Rotta battles the Twins and sends them all crashing into the Dragonsnake pit below.
Grogu reaches out with the Force and pulls Rotta back to safety above. Embo flees through a tunnel, leaving the Twins to die in the Dragonsnake’s jaws. Shortly after, the Anzellans arrive with Ward (Sigourney Weaver) and a New Republic squadron to finish everything.Ward then discloses that Janu and the Twins had been secretly working together all along. Rotta opts to remain with the New Republic and begin a new chapter ahead. Din Djarin and Grogu fly off in the Razor Crest, where the Mandalorian will teach Grogu to pilot.
