Lucasfilm has confirmed that a new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu is imminent. Following recent speculation about the film’s marketing rollout, the studio announced that the next trailer will arrive soon. The update marks a key moment in the lead-up to the franchise’s return to theaters, with the new footage expected to offer a closer look at the upcoming release.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will debut a new trailer tomorrow, according to the official Star Wars account on X. The post states, “The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer arrives tomorrow,” and has generated 1.5M views. Lucasfilm confirmed the release following a 15-second teaser featuring new footage.

The teaser includes atmospheric shots of X-wing fighters and an astromech before Din Djarin tells off Grogu for aborting the new Razor Crest’s takeoff sequence. The footage follows the film’s recent Super Bowl TV spot. Reports note the upcoming trailer contains scenes directly from the movie.
The Super Bowl advertisement was released nine days earlier and drew significant engagement online. On the official Star Wars YouTube account, the spot received roughly 34k dislikes compared to 18k likes. The film marks the first Star Wars movie released in theaters since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Jon Favreau directs the film and produces alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce. Ludwig Göransson returns to compose the score after previously working on The Mandalorian television series.
During a recent Q&A at New York Toy Fair, Favreau said, “Star Wars is linked to the toys, because you’d see [the movie] in the theater, and then you and your friends would get the toys, and you[‘d] play, like that was how the story would continue, to act it out again and again, and even the first promotional toys.”
He added, “That’s why, in the show, The Mandalorian, we try to reference the toys. So, Kenner would make this [Imperial] troop transport — and sometimes [the toys] weren’t from the movies. There was just this silly-looking thing where a bunch of Stormtroopers standing up. And we’re like, ‘We got to figure out how to put this in the show and make it look cool.’”
The synopsis states the Empire has fallen while Imperial warlords remain scattered. The New Republic enlists Din Djarin and Grogu for a new mission.
The film opens exclusively in theaters on May 22, 2026.
