Brian Cox will be voicing God in the new Fox’s The Life of Jesus podcast, but he isn’t doing it willingly. Hosted by Fox & Friends‘ Ainsley Earhardt, the podcast will feature over 100 actors voicing different characters from the Bible, with Brian Cox as God.

Cox will be joined by tons of iconic actors lending their voices to different well-known characters. Per Fox News, some of them are:

Kristen Bell as Mary Magdalene

Sean Astin as Matthew

Neal McDonough as Jesus

Malcolm McDowell as Caiaphas

Julius Ormond as Mary, Mother of God

John Rhys-Davies as The Narrator

Blair Underwood as Mark

Stacy Keach as John

Hill Harper as Angel of the Lord

Michael York as Luke

However, Brian Cox revealed that although his voice will be used for the role of God in The Life of Jesus podcast, he wasn’t made aware of it at all.

Brian Cox’s rep told Deadline that the actor was unaware of Fox’s involvement with The Life of Jesus podcast when Cox voiced the role of God in 2010’s The Truth & Life Dramatized Audio Bible: New Testament.

A Fox News Spokesperson said that Gulf Stream Studio produced The Life of Jesus podcast from The Truth and Life Dramatized Audio Bible.

Which was licensed by Fox News Audio, with full cooperation and participation by all the actors involved.

However, Succession star Brian Cox is not the only one unaware of the deal between Fox News Audio and Gulf Stream Studio.

Even Kristen Bell’s rep told Rolling Stone that she wasn’t aware of this deal between the two studios, nor was she aware that her voice would be repurposed and used for The Life of Jesus podcast, for which she did not give her approval.

John Rhys-Davies, who famously portrayed the role of Gimli in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, also confirmed that he wasn’t aware of Fox’s involvement. Naturally, several actors are disowning The Life of Jesus podcast, and it remains to be seen whether the podcast will be given a smooth release or not.

Do you think the actors are in the right? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The Life of Jesus will debut on November 30, 2025, via Fox Faith (USA).
